I did that years ago on a 30 day old trailer and found that the grey water tank did not have bolts installed to hold the tank in place. Glad it did not fall off during the trip from the dealer, or the shake-down trip. I had it down multiple times while I owned the trailer. On the shake-down trip is when we discovered the bottom track of the shower door was installed backwards, allowing the water to drain into the bathroom.Re: Any new developments in hitches? GrandpaKip wrote: Short answer—no. However, if your tongue weight is about 700 pounds or less, it’s lots easier to use an Andersen Hitch. Still have to back up straight, stop under the ball and attach everything. Takes me about 5 minutes. Takes longer to load all of the adult beverages required. I second the Andersen. I have used a drawtite in the past and hated the spring bars. On my light trailer, I am wanting the sway control more than weight distribution. Quick and easy hook-up.Re: We're using the TT's fridge as a "semi-lifeboat"Yep, got food in the TT frig. I keep our TT plugged in most of the time in the backyard. I have even thought it could be used by one of us as a quarantine location in case one of use catch COVID-19. My wife is a high risk category. I am considered essential where I work, so I am going in 4-5 days a week. I pray she does not get sick. I wish everyone the best thru this time of uncertainity.Re: It has been 6 yrs since we sold our TT--back looking again! We sold our 30' 5th wheel and GMC 2500 Duramax after our 16+ y.o. daughter said, "I will never camp with y'all again". Then the next year, the wife decides she had enough of camping. Then, I was laid off and secured a job 35 miles from home. Further than I wanted to drive the Duramax every day. I sold the entire rig and purchased a GMC Canyon. A couple years without a camper, my wife decides it is time to get back into camping. So, we had to set our sights on what the Canyon would tow comfortably. After multiple dealer visits, we settled on a KZ 201QB. It is 4500# empty, tandem axle. My wife and I have enjoyed this layout and the Canyon handles it well NC, VA & TN mountains). Now our daughter is 21 and thinks she should travel with us. Did it once. Was not a fun trip for all. :( :S What were we thinking?Upgrades to existing sofaWe have a 2018 KZ C201QB. It has a small slide-out which contains the jack knife sofa. This sofa doubles as the dinette when the heavy, bulky, too tall table is placed in front of it. Also the is not any thing to hold the arm cushions in place, i.e. wall or arm. After some trial and error, my wife and I determined the sofa needs to be raised 3 inch to make more comfortable, as well stand up from the sitting position. I then designed a simple eye appealing wood arm rest. I did not stop there. I designed a swing away tray tables for eating, laptop, writing, etc. When they are not needed, they can be swung out of the way or simply remove them and place them behind the sofa. I do not see us using the table much any more.Re: Short queen mattress at CWI second the Original Mattress Factory. I have purchased a short queen for two rigs we have had over the last 20+ years.Re: Traded in 5th wheel for couples TTYes, we made the change as well. From a 32' 5er to a 20' TT. Yes, our daughter ditched us and camping, so having a bunkhouse for she and a friend was not necessary anymore. My wife, dogs, and I have gotten backing into camping at state and national parks. And yes, going where a 32er footer would not easily go. No heavy diesel truck but a smaller truck which is less thirsty on the daily work commute. Don't regret the change a bit.Re: Handheld electronic gas leak detectorThanks for the feedback. I have done the leak check on my home LP gas lines in which I installed a few years back on a fairly regular basis (1-3 years). They test fine with soapy water and I do not smell gas. I am now questioning the tank and pressure regulator outside. Did the soapy water sparingly on the regulator, and did not find a leak. I am not smelling gas at the tank on a regular basis. Just wondered if the homeowner electronics were worth the trouble. Have not read any convincing post here yet. Happy Camping!Handheld electronic gas leak detectorHi, I was wondering if anyone on the forum has used the Techamor Y201 gas leak detector? If so, what was your experience with it? If not, what units have you tried and recommend? Thanks!Re: Plate / Dishes storage in small camperThank you for your responses. I have not gotten a chance to read all of them. Over the weekend I was thinking thru the design of the dish storage rack design and I discovered the wire corner rack turned on its side looks like it will work well. Just need to give it a trial run. Click HERE
