I ran into a similar situation with a 500 pound motorcycle on a Arctic Fox 24-5.I mounted a truck sidebox on the pinbox and added 4, 6 volt batteries. They were cheaper than lead.
I would want a controller that give the batteries a equalization charge every month or so. Look at the specs on what you have, it might have that capability.
