The 2003 KS has the Workhorse W22 chassis and other than the brake recall, shock change to Koni FSD and a new computer for the Allison transmission, it has been flawless, best advice that you got, drive them both. Good luck and let us hear back when you decide.Re: Engine ChoiceTug, as you can see by my signature I own a 2003 Newmar Kountry Star 3740 since new with over 125,000 miles it has been probably the best motor home dollar for dollar that I have ever owned and that includes my Essex. I am sure there are many who have quite gas motor homes, I have both and and I know.Re: Dash air vs generatorHateful comments ??? :hRe: 2003 Newmar MountainaireLack of CCC !! That is why we purchased our 2003 Kountry Star 3740 custom build which now has over 120K and still to this day gets great comments, oh and by the way it's a 8.1 Vortec (Chevy)and if the unit you are looking at seems low on power there is something definitely wrong, I would move on to another unit. Bought a newer Essex which we love but I have kept the Kountry Star which we use for shorter trips to the horse shows. Love my Newmars.Re: From diesel to gas.rgatijnet1 what a great response. It always seems that the preachers are always right and individuals like us have no idea how to live life. And speaking of living life on the edge, I am jealous really jealous. Bill SenickRe: Sidewall Problems/"Gassing"/Checking of PaintDSDP Don, you are spot on with your analogy, it seems like certain individuals always have there hands out to acquire what they consider just compensation, and they will continue to spew there particular hated of one company, all I know personally is that Newmar took care of my problems within the three year warranty period, it really seems odd that his problems as he claims were ignored by the company. There are numerous forums regarding sidewall problems throughout the industry and Newmar came to the rescue on many of them if you were in the warranty period. The old adage rings true "Their always two sides to any story" Sorry about your problem but I could care less, so you can continue your same rant about Newmar to the cows come home, but to be perfectly honest you will continue to beat a dead horse, move on and buy another make.Re: Possible RV RestoreExcuse us for asking :SRe: How often do you change your differential oil? When I bought my 2003 Kountry Star I immediately changed all fluids to full synthetic, engine oil every 5K real differential at 2K now have 118,775 on coach and have never changed out the rear again. Of all vehicles that I have owned I never change out rear fluid except to synthetic to replace dino gear oil, I am 70 years old and have never had a differential service problem NEVER. Do as you will, that's my story.Re: Road Trip SoundtrackSix Days On The Road, and I am gonna make it home tonight. Always loved that one when I use to travel all week long.
