On really long days (more than 300 miles), we usually run it for 3-5 minutes when we stop to eat or gas up. Never had a problem.Re: 2016 Thor TuscanyThanks Lostdog for the thread. We are trying to find a Class A also. We really like most of the floorplan of the Venetian M-37, but as you said, don't know how well they are built or finished? We had an Itasca Sunova 36v gas which had great lay out for us but it was totaled a couple of months ago. We have looked at Tiffins, Winnebagos mostly but see lots of Tuscanys, Monicos, Integra and several others. Not being a mechanic I want to buy newer but not necessarily new. If we go gas, 2016 f-53 chassis may be worth it for few more hp and 6 speed. If we go diesel on the smaller side (33-38ft), we would buy a few years old. Good luck on your search and I will be watching. There is so much experience on this board and lots of help. Just wish everyone could keep it civil.Re: I-40 From Tennessee to CaliforniaWe did this route last spring/summer. 7,500 mi on MH and 2,500 on car. We stuck mostly to I-40 with lots of short side trips. We thought Williams,AZ and their Rte 66 themed downtown was nice. Walnut Canyon NM outside of Flagstaff was very nice find and nice cliff dwellings. We drove down to Sedona twice. In Alburqurque, we found the International Pow Wow and enjoyed a full day discovering the cultures from 4,000 plus performers, dancers, singers, exhibits. We Went to Okla City Memorial and enjoyed that. We turned off in Okla to Muskogee to Nat'l Cherokee Museum and spent the night at Lake Tenkiller. Next was visit to Presidential Library at Little Rock. Then we spent a week plus in Tennessee to see all the tourist sites, Graceland, Nashville and Grand Ole Opry, Dollywood and Smokey Mtn NP. Then off the Charlotte, NC to see friends and tour the Speedway and NASCAR Hall of Fame. Northeast to Blue Ridge Parkway, Fancy Gap, Mt Airy (Mayberry), Natural Bridge and finally down to Mechanicsville. We didn't find too many stretches with nothing to see, But it was our first time past Okla. There is plenty to see and do and good places to see. We usually called ahead that morning to reserve a CG since we have a 38ft MH and it gets a little tricky otherwise. If you have any specific questions about any of it, let me know and I will get out my journal to jog my memory. Have good trip.Re: Best Route from Jasper to Portland? We will be in Glacier, Waterton Lakes,Calgary, Baniff and Lake Louise for about two weeks including two nights in Baniff, and two in Lake Louise before heading on Up the Icefield parkway to Jasper. So on our return trip, I was hoping to find a decent route that has things to see near by and not backtrack to the parkway. I did see Wells Gray PP but wasn't sure where you get in and can see things, maybe Clearwater? We would probably pick up hwy 97 at Kamloops and take that down to Washington. We have previously been to Grand Coulee Dam and would not go that far back east since we are heading for Portland area (Battle Ground) Thanks for all the ideas so far. Keep them coming, we still have a couple of weeks before we leave.Re: Help With Led Bulb ReplacementsJust to update. I ended up talking to m4led.com about what I needed. They were very helpful and I purchased 10 bulbs to try them out. I bought some flat type for celing fixtures and they seem to be okay, lum wise. I also tried two different 921/194 bulbs where I had limited space between the bulbs. The Samsung 5650 chips are much brighter than the 5050 chips and put out same light in bulb same size as my old ones. The reading light 1383 bulb fits tight but seems to be ok. There bulbs were mostly from $10-15 but I had them in 4 days and they seem to be fine so far after a couple of hrs of testing. I tried to get from Amazon, but they did not provide enough info on the specs to make sure what I was getting when I didn't know much about it. Same with ebay or a couple of companies from China. They may be fine for $2-6 but I didn't have time to wait for shipping and/or not know if they would work. Should have done this 3 mos ago when I had lots of time before upcoming trip.Re: New 6v house batteries & main battery losing chargeI have a related question on batteries. I also have two 6v house and a 12v chassis on my 2011 Itasca F53. Can I charge my 6v with a battery charger plugged in to generator w/o unhooking batteries from the coach? Have never seen clear answer on this? We normally have hookups on most of our trips but on upcoming trip, we may have some one night stops w/o hookups plus a 7 day stop at Jasper NP w/o hookups.Re: Campgrounds in Alberta, CA near NPsthank you for info so far. Anymore? Looking for help on the drive down from Jasper to Portland?Best Route from Jasper to Portland? After a tour of northwestern US Nat'l parks, and CA southern parks, we are looking for a route from Jasper to Portland. We have been to Vancouver several times and would like to avoid traffic there, plus border crossing, and also on I5 in Seattle area. We will be in 38ft motorhone towing suv. On map, it looks like Hwy 5 from Jasper to Kamloops, hwy 97 to Kelowna and Oosyoos and on down to Wenatchee and Portland. Are there things to see and along here and or to look at while driving? We have about 860 miles total, and will take 3-4 days to get there if needed or there are things to see along way. Any help? Alternative routes that have better scenery that are ok for motorhome? Appreciate any help fron those who know the area.Re: Campgrounds in Alberta, CA near NPsYes we are staying at Whistler, but when I tried to look at their map, I think there were two loops on the opposite side of the road from the rest of the CG. We would also love to go to a Stampede once, but dealing with the crowds for CG's would not be fun. That's probably one where you book the following year while you are there this year! Exploring possibility of taking hwy 5/97 down from Jasper to Washington and on down to Wenatchee, Yakima to Portland and avoid the border crossing at Vancouver and hassle of I-5 around Seattle. Anyone know this route down? Looks like it should be fine for 38ft MH? It appears to be just a few miles longer.Re: Campgrounds in Alberta, CA near NPsWell, based on responses here and from time on the Canada park site, we have made reservations for Waterton Lakes and Jasper. In Jasper, there were no electrical sites available for a 38ft MH as of a week ago. So we have a dry spot, don't think it is in overflow but how do you know? Still need to figure out what to do in Calgary for a couple of nights, Baniff and Lake Louise for a few nights each. Baniff and Lake Louise are still showing a lot of sites open. Since we are pretty well locked into our timetable by the resrv we already have, we may go ahead and get some for the other few nights on way up to Jasper. Once, we leave Jasper and head towards Vancouver by some scenic road, we plan on just finding what is available for one or two night stays. Will this work after July 4th weekend or will these areas going across and down to Vancouver be crowded too? We will get a provincial park guide when we get there.
