All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway MontanaThere is a campground, BLM I think, between Wisdom and Wise river. It is right off the highway and on the river. Didn't stay there but checked it out and thought it would be a good place to stay. We stayed at an rv park and I use that term loosely, but it was quiet and had full hookups in Wisdom. Made the tour over the Pioneers lots of sites to see. Take the hike to Coolidge, about a mile, its is an old gold mining ghost town. Also if you like rocks check out crystal park where you can dig for crystals. If I remember there are a few forest service campgrounds on the route over the Pioneers.Re: Extraterrestrial Highway - Area 51 PlanningStumbled across your post, interested in someone that wanted to check out the extraterrestrial highway, sounds like an awesome adventure. Had to go looking for other posts so I could see pictures of Lil' Queenie, she is beautiful. Had one and loved it and have wished more than once that we would have kept it and restored it. Enjoy the trip.Re: Northern Idaho Camping (near I90)Wolf Lodge Campground. Not bad and right off of I-90 exit 22 then right on frontage rd., it is about 8 miles east of Coeur D'Alene. There are a couple of other other RV parks but I haven't stayed at them so no info except what my little RV Idaho book says. There is a State park about 20 miles north of Coeur D'Alene on highway 95 that is really worth staying at. It is an old World War II Navel base called Farragut. Has a little museum, about 40 miles of walking/biking trails and water/electric hookups on some of the loops. Do need reservations tho, especially if you are staying on a weekend. It is on the lake a really pretty place. Enjoy your trip.Thank youI lurk on all of you a lot here but I have sure learned from those that take the time to answer questions kindly and thoughtfully. I had an issue with my new (to me) 5'ver towing to nose high. I had it to an rv dealer in Montana, he thought it was ok. I have talked to other rv'ers, rv techs and mechanics, different answers from all. So I dug around on here in old posts for ideas or anything that would getmy brain working on a fix. A combination of old posts and having to get a spring fixed on it. Eureka!! New larger springs on it which lifted it up to a better towing angle. Bonus for me price was way cheaper than I had planned. Since I can't remember which posters were the ones that gave me the idea I am just saying thank you to all that take the time to answer questions.Re: Cup, glass & plate storageX2 on using old socks for the glassware, cut to size. Rest of my dishes are vintage melmac from my mother-in-law. It is almost indestructible. Also use socks on jars of pickles etc, nothing broken yet. Worst mess was loose lid on a jar of pickled beets. Oh my lesson learned.Re: Hells Canyon N.R.AThere are campgrounds on the river to Hells canyon. Turn west off of highway 95 onto highway 71 at Cambridge Idaho and follow it to Brownlee Campground, Woodland Campground or McCormick campground. There is some boondocking camp spots closer to Hells canyon dam also. Awesome camping and hiking. Best done early in the season as it gets pretty warm down in the canyon. Enjoy.Re: Missoula to Cascade Lake 12-13 to 95 idahoLike another poster said 13 is winding and a bit narrow but very doable. I do it quite often with my 34 ft. 5"ver and have never had a problem. Just take your time.Re: Crescent Lake, Deschutes Nat'l ForestGlad you got a site, it is a beautiful lake. I wanted to add to those that said call the ranger. We were suppose to camp with grandkids at a forest service campground (Crystal Lake) in Montana. Looked it up, oops says 22 feet max. I called the local ranger district office, got an awesome lady that assured me it had been upgraded and my 34ft 5'vr will fit. She told me how to get there and what kind of road conditions there were. We went and had an awesome time. I now check with the local ranger districts were ever we want to go. It is a great resource and they are familiar with the area. Camp on.Re: Four Corners MonumentWow, every time the subject of the four corners area comes up lots of negative comments so I thought it was time to hear from a crazy person that actually enjoyed it every time I've been there. I loved the desolation of the surrounding area, the amazing flowers that managed to grow and bloom there. I enjoyed visiting with most of the venders who always seem to answer any questions I've asked with kindness and a smile.Re: Hwy 28 in Idaho...Good road, I tow a 34ft 5ver that way fairly often and never have a problem. We stay at Birch Creek Campground north of Mud Lake. Neat little campground.
