Very simple machines and indestructibleRe: S OR to RedwoodsHeck, I try to avoid going through SF in a car, much less with a trailerRe: Our good friends got a new Cedar Creek...If I may ask, where do they live, I grew up just 20 minutes away from Ukiah. They have had some torrential downpours in the last month there. I know I looked at a smaller trailer in Ukiah years ago, I had a small truck at the time and so was more concerned with the weight. The guy sat there with a calculator doing the weights with water and such, and we came up with very different numbers, he swore up and down the weight of water was 7lbs/gallon. The weight is actually 8.34lbs/gallon, and my water treatment licenses dictate that I better know what I am talking about. He proceeded to inform me that I must be terrible at my job if I didn't even know what water weighed... needless to say we left.Re: Setting Up Tow Vehicle w/hitch, EtcThe bolts in front drivers side were indeed the worst by far, I found the procedure here tho and it worked like a charm. https://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/2013-general-discussion/1458058-oem-ram-fifth-wheel-prep-kit-diy.htmlTalk about pucker factor tho, drilling those holes in my truck with only 5k miles on it was just a wee bit stressful.Re: Setting Up Tow Vehicle w/hitch, EtcActually, you can do it without lifting the bed at all, thats how I installed our puck kit. You just need to be part contortionist. Al H wrote: I purchased a mega cab just because it was a used truck and in very nice condition and the price was right. Its a Laramie longhorn and we really like it. It has a 6'-4" box and a little longer wheelbase but the mega cab does not eat up box space, just a little longer frame than the crew cab but slightly shorter than the long box trucks. Maybe earlier model mega cabs had shorter boxes? Anyway I decided to not use the Anderson ultimate and purchased the Mopar puck kit and installed it as well as the in box wiring kit. Installation was little involved as the box had to be raised to get the pucks in and then cutting four holes but really not that bad. I could do it in half the time if I had to do it again. Cost was $260 for the kit and $80 for the wiring so now I still need a hitch and will be buying one soon. I'm still not sure about a slider yet as the Heartland trailers have the "tight turn technology" and I am only going south and back once a year and then to a summer park so wont be driving it a whole bunch. Great advice on this forum, thanks everyone! Re: RV Parks charging for water use? At the risk of taking this off-topic: not true. Most states that are drilling for oil/gas have turned to fracking, which uses/contaminates hundreds-of-thousands to millions of gallons of fresh water, which is put into super-deep disposal wells, well below the water tables that would put it back into the "Water Cycle". These miles-deep disposal wells are what are triggering the earthquakes in OK, for example So back to the topic at hand: I'm not surprised by a nominal water use charge? One of the things I noticed as a FL condo-owning Snowbird is that our local water utility charges us all kinds of customer fees resulting in monthly costs around $36 even when there's zero use. I can only imagine how they must stick it to the RV parks.... That $36 is what pays for the pipes and the employees to maintain them, aka fixed costs for a water utility. The usage part of the bill is what pays for the waterRe: Colour of water hose azrving wrote: Most of the bottled water is spring water. Niagra bottled water is from the City of Stockton's municipal water supply, I used to work there and they would get mad when we ran our wells, it made them backwash their RO filters more oftenRe: Why 4 X 4I live in Tucson, and while I don't need 4 wheel drive while hooked to the 5th wheel, in order to get up the gravel part of the yard without spinning the tires that I have to go up in order TO hook up I need it. To each their own I suppose, I like having it as a backup in case I need it. Not to mention the flooded roads and **** washed onto the roads here in monsoon season, I go through the sand washed onto the road fine, my 2 wheel drive brethren, not so muchRe: Firman 3000W Inverter Generator 58db $714any chance there is a update on the reliability of this??
