All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Road Rage...HelpIt is essential that you ignore the alleged transgression and move on. Do not become part of the problem. Read the recent mailings from your insurance co. regarding your participation in road rage incidents. One charge of that type will get your insurance cancelled and probably render you uninsurable with anyone else. When the cops come they are going to come down on all participants. I am with you; We see some real sleezey bush league antics on the roads and streets today. Our population is growing so much and so rapidly that it is not going to get any better anytime soon.Re: mounting dishI made an adapter plate for my tri pod and mount my winegard dome on it. I spike the tri pod to the ground for wind purposes and use a set of varied length cables to lock everything to the moho. Having to move it around does come up but rather infrequently so a variety of locking cables is handy. Keeping in mind if somebody wants something bad enough they are going to get it.Re: Just Suppose Gjac wrote: jwmII wrote: Today it was announced that September 2016 was one of the bigger months for RV sales in the recent past. Unfortunately there were no announcements regarding any of the manufacturers ramping up their quality. There is not much incentive to improve quality as long as there are record sales each month. Don't you think that reducing warranty costs would be an incentive to improve the product? From what I have seen most of the problems are not quality problems but design/mfg process problems. I don't believe that workers are lazy and purposely try to put out an inferior product. I also don't believe you can inspect quality into the product it has to be part of the design/build process itself. I would focas on fewer products so that I could afford good production tooling and NC mfg processes. It is hard to justify spending a lot of money up front if they only build low volume units. The more workers have to layout holes and cut things by hand the more mistakes are made. NC layouts and production tools eliminate these mistakes and will make a more uniform product. Warranty costs are not a factor because these vehicles are being sold with substantial profit margins and warranty costs per unit are cheap when you see what a manufacturer pays a selling dealer for warranty work. Also independents that take on warranty work are cheaply paid. So much so that many will not do warranty repair. Dealers have to provide separate staff in many cases to handle the warranty expenses for the numerous lines they sell. As far as CNC equipment to do a lot of the work; There is no incentive to spend the big money those tools require along with the training the operators require when you can hire illegal immigrants off the clock for half the money and no benefits. All that is really needed is round wheels at each corner so it can be shoved out the door to the next station and then on to a dealer and an unsuspecting buyer who then have to sort the whole mess out most of the time with less than satisfactory results.Re: Water heater relief valve drippingThe term for that is 'Water logged'. Shut off the flow of water to the heater and drain off a quart. This will allow an air pocket to form and will prevent the safety from leaking. Be sure to turn the water on when done.Re: Making maintenance easierTo get oil in I have a 5 quart Plews oil can with a long pivot down spout. Do 5 quarts at a time. Piece of cake. These oilcans are often spotted at yard sales and antique sales. They have been around for years in sizes from 1 qt. up to the 5qt. and are still made new.Re: Good Sam InsuranceI have National General thru FMCA and they have been great. We'll see next year at renewal time though as I have had a windshield claim and a claim on the toad when a rock jumped out and scraped a rear door. I'll be surprised if those two claims go unpunished.Re: Used Diesel Pusher Dealer PricingThe markup is whatever the traffic will bear. There is a Kelly Blue Book on motorhomes and NADA has a pricing guide as well. Whatever you do, donot let the dealer(s) know how much you are willing to spend or have to spend. It's their job to get all they can out of a unit and it is your job to get it as reasonably priced as possible. Good Luck.Re: Are design changes possible during same production year?Absolutely, And read their marketing literature where they say they can make current year changes and are in no way obligated to make the same changes on the current model you bought last month.Re: Just SupposeToday it was announced that September 2016 was one of the bigger months for RV sales in the recent past. Unfortunately there were no announcements regarding any of the manufacturers ramping up their quality. Go to any hardware store and checkout the hundreds of wall fasteners available. Pop Rivets probably won't be in that group.
