I got 2 of mine on Craigslist.Re: New TrailerI can't even see my hybrid, and my ladders are under 3 feet of snow behind the garage so I can't even dig it out even if I wanted to brave the dramatically sub-zero wind chill.Re: 235SRG Antigua RepairExactly right! I would use a 1/8" bit and drill right in the center. The head should drop off and the thimble, or what's left of it should come off in your hand. The bit left in the bunk may fall out, fall down inside the door, or may possibly need to be removed some other way (drill, pliers, pick...). Good luck!Re: newbie here looking for helpYeah, Bikendan summed it up pretty well. I would like to address the statement made regarding the difficulty maintaining temperature; I installed a digital thermostat; the result being a temp swing of +/- 5 degrees. Yes, the furnace cycles on and off more frequently, but stays on for much less time, so propane usage is about the same, possibly lower. My wife is a light sleeper as well, but the CG's we frequent are really good about observing quiet hours...Re: Bike rack optionsWe manage to jam 4 full-size bikes inside our camper. That works out pretty well.Re: Less than 2 months! bikendan wrote: Campfire Time wrote: jujububbajr wrote: I don't know how people live up north and not go crazy. bikendan wrote: jujububbajr wrote: I don't know how people live up north and not go crazy. totally agree! By the same token, we wonder how people can live in places that have 3 times the cost of living that we do or 6-7 months of heat and humidity a year! Its all relative. there are tons of places in California that aren't 3 times your cost of living. just stay out of the crowded places. now taxes and regulations are another thing!:M Okay, we have the highest taxes in the country. And Syracuse is the snowiest city in the country. And I've still got a foot of the stuff in my yard. We also have a near total lack of hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, earthquakes, water moccasins, giant, man-eating palmetto bugs or mile after mile after mile of stupefying, featureless flat. Plus the Adirondacks. Oh, and black flies. Oops.Re: Hilton Head island, SCWe found this place by accident and loved it. Zero ambiance (It's in an office park for crying out loud!), just great food, big portions and very reasonably priced. http://seashackhhi.com/ P.S. - DW wanted me to add that it was surpassingly friendly as well!Re: Ideas for New York state? bukhrn wrote: michigan buckeye wrote: So would it be best sticking to the Finger Lakes area / west end of the state if we only have a week? Possibly splitting up our time between two campgrounds? This sounds very reasonable, considering you only have one week, as you can see from all the posts, anything more would be very ambitious for one week, just don't forget to go back & see the rest at another time. X2 - There isn't a section of the state that one couldn't spend a week in. Letchworth is outstanding, as are the Finger Lakes, the Niagara Frontier, the Thousand Islands, the Adirondacks and on and on. Maybe you'd want to start at Niagara Falls and work east with subsequent trips!Re: Newbie purchase questions Damer419 wrote: bikendan wrote: people just don't get how prices are so high out west. we went through the same issues looking for a good used hybrid out here, rare and overpriced. prices for new ones were insane. Seriosly...WTH??? Bad enough we get taxed to death.......So you feel it was worth it to drive to the midwest? Would you do it again? I found a dealer in No Cal (Turlock) that has is at a fair price, only 1.5k higher than RVW quoted me. mark I was going to make some snarky remark comparing CA taxes to NY's, but decided against it and now I can't work out how to delete this thing...sorry!Re: Newbie purchase questionsCare taken by the previous owner is tough to fake, especially considering most dealers won't invest the time and money on a thorough cleaning until the rig is sold. Water damage is probably the biggest concern, and sometimes VERY hard to detect. Staining, spongy floors...And unless you're very lucky and have the most thorough dealership ever, unnoticed things will likely pop up anyway. Like the mouse nest and holes in one of my furnace ducts, under the fridge, where nobody could see them. I only figured it out because one duct didn't seem to blow, and I noticed paper towel shreds in the outlet!
