Re: hot brake
Took a trip around lower Michigan. Took about 50 miles to feel brakes working. Did a temperature check, about 10 degrees variable. Stopped with less side pull.got back to Grand rapids son's house. Did a brake adjustment, ready to head back home to Florida. Except for another broken spring hanger, found broken one on way up got it fixed in Tennessee. Checked temp on trip. 1 was hotter 2 we're about 15 degrees cooler 1 was about air temp. Changed out all brakes, backing plate assembly. 3 were greasy on magnet.1 of them had a broken magnet wire. Hot 1 was probably doing the most work, last year when I replaced grease seals and packed bearings it was the messeyist, I cleaned drum with brake clean. Fixed wires, cleaned all drums good, packed bearings,1 replaced metal flakes,adjusted manual adjust brakes, checked truck connector wires. Question was what model. I know they are gel for sure. Size like a group 24. I built a rack between tung frame rails, hard to get at. Also use a disconnect switch, located in storage box, had switch go bad twice locating them outside in weather. I use ground side to disconnect. This month our deka gel batteries, 2 , celebrate 10 years of use. They are in there third trailer. First fifth wheel, 3 slides lived in 4 yrs, stored 1, batteries dead when picked up after Michigan winter storage. Still good. Bought small tt. 2 yrs. Bought 35' 3 slides tt, 3 yrs, stored since November, just ran slides out and in, in storage. Volts 12.5. I think we're good to go.1KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Bringing home new travel trailer.
I have never seen a delivery driver with a wdh. I have reset every hitch a dealer installed or set up, on purchase. Different reasons for each. First fifth wheel trailer towed so bad I almost returned it and went back to tt right then. I would tow home and install hitch have fun!509Views0likes0Comments
