The way DH and DD like to munch on ice, it was a great purchase!! VickieRe: Took the Challenger in for new front A/C. . . Winterize in Texas?????? We camp year round. Yep; we had about 4-5 feet snow that lasted about 6 weeks. I noticed this morning, leaving church, that the house across the street STILL had snow drift in the front yard. The "blizzard" happened right after Christmas.Re: Took the Challenger in for new front A/C. . . UPDATEWe got the Pinnacle home the end of October (almost 5 months to the day), just in time to winterize it!! I am sooooo itching for warmer weather and a trip!!Re: go to mealsMy "go-to" meal -- traditionally first night camping is Pepperoni Salad: lettuce tomatoes, chopped green onions, chopped, whole onion mozzarella cheese, cubed package of pepperoni (I use the blister pack -- we like lots!!) salt/pepper (Original recipe calls for garbanzo beans, but we don't like, so I don't use) Favorite salad dressing I serve with either garlic bread or Pillsbury bread sticks The beauty of this salad is you make as much/little as you want, with as much/little of each ingredient as you want.Re: Took the Challenger in for new front A/C. . . UPDATEA little update: After telling our dealer we wanted to keep our Goodyear Marathon tires (2-3 years old)rather than the Chinese tires that were on the new Pinnacle, we made our trip to Connecticut. BUT, we didn't even make it to Arlington (from Lubbock area), TX before the first blow-out. New tire, and hit the road again (after losing a day in Sherman). Second blow-out just inside the Ohio state line. We then bought another set of new tires. This time, we went with truck tires. I think God has a sense of humor, laughing at us because we wanted to keep our "good" tires!! At least the blow-outs didn't do any damage to the new 5er!! BUT, we DID take out a retaining wall in Dallas, coming home, and now the 5er is back at the dealer for repairs -- took out the whole driver side of the RV. BUT, no one was injured or killed, and no other cars were involved, which, on I-30 could very easily have happened!! AND. . .this week, we found out that while at the dealer for damage repairs, the passenger side received hail damage!!! OY!!!Re: Bunkhouse with W/D prepWe had a 2009 Keystone Challenger 33DBB, bunkhouse with W/D prep. We never had any trouble with it, and would still have it, except we traded it in about 3 weeks ago, since the teen DD no longer cares to travel with us. Good luck on your search!! VickieRe: Place to spend summerFun Valley, Colorado, maybe??Took the Challenger in for new front A/C. . . UPDATEand. . .bought a new Jayco Pinnacle 31 RETS!! The Challenger is a bunkhouse model, and we have absolutely loved having it, but the 17 year-old DD no longer travels with us, so DH and I bought something for US!! We do our PDI, transfer all our "stuff," and bring it home next Monday!! I am sooo excited, but a little sad, too. Its maiden voyage will probably be the first part of June, when we travel from West Texas to Connecticut. VickieRe: Traveling next DecemberThank you all for your info and advice. I really appreciate all your input. VickieTraveling next DecemberWe are planning a trip next December from West Texas to Disney World, and my question is: should DH and I take the 5er? We've never traveled with the 5er in winter, and have no idea what kind of weather we may experience from West Texas to Florida. We appreciate all advice from you who are more experienced traveling in the winter, and those of you who know about the route from here to there. And, how do I add to the map? My DD helped initially, but we have traveled to many more states than map indicates, and DD doesn't remember how to add. Thank you!!
