My wife and I love to camp with our friends, but it has always been our number one rule... You gotta be in your own tent or trailer or whatever. I'm far too old and far to cranky to share my toys. I'd rather camp alone with a good book than having to let others put wear/tear on my things that I've worked hard to pay for. Kinda harsh I know, but try it this way at least once before you toss I'm the towel. Your wife might like it better maybe. One type just extends and has an automatic dumping feature that allows one end of the awning to collapse when there is a rain water build up on the awning. The problem with this type is that you never know which end of the awning is going to drop and allow the water to run off. Many of my friends, with this type, have been soaked when the awning dumps. Also you cannot adjust the height of this awning to compensate for the sun's angle, it just extends straight out. My preference is the Dometic 9100 electric awning. There are two adjustable arms on it that permit you to slope the awning so rain water drains off the end you choose. Also these arms allow you a 24 inch adjustment on the height of the awning so when the sun is low you can lower the awning to get more shade. The Dometic is available from Camping World for $982. Yes......get the adjustable pitch awning if your gonna go to electric.Re: Slide seals DiskDoctr wrote: What an excellent recommendation! Wonder if this would work for the bunk end seals on a Hybrid? we used it on our HTT when we had it....seem to work......never had those pesky leaks when closed or traveling in the rain.Re: Who has a Kodiak 300BHSL? What's your tow vehicle? DarylSue wrote: FireLieutenant72 wrote: TheColoradoan wrote: If the limits are within the manufactures specifications what's the issue? Is it a "my stick is bigger than your stick," argument? I understand safety, that's why manufactures set limits which I'm within. I'm not opposed to upgrading to a bigger truck but the argument of sending out a boy to do a mans job doesn't make much sense if the "boy" is capable according to the manufacture. I appreciate your feedback but if its bei g towed within the limits I don't see much a valid argument to upgrade at this point... WELL PUT! This argument about half tons not being able to pull anything bigger than a lawn trailer drives me up the wall. I pull mine just fine. exactly! again....dont underestimate the 1/2 tons set up correctly.Re: already looking to upgrade GeoBoy wrote: On our second RV we bought a TT that would sleep up to 5 people and we never had guest. I would suggest that you look at a TT that will accommodate your family and then buy a tent for the rare times that there will be guest. Also keep in mind that you will be towing with a 1/2 ton truck. Have Fun. dont under estimate your 1/2 ton.....set up the right way you wont have a problem.
