Here's a picture from about Monday I found on the net, which happens to have my RV in it lol, my RV weathered the flood ok at least...I went home since I was towing a car so at least I'm not stuck in Tok. Re: Coach-Net, Good Sam or "Other" in Alaska?I can attest to coach net being awesome. I just got towed from about 45 miles west of Tok where my phone didnt work. I broke down near the Mentasta lodge and called them through a pay phone ag the lodge. The only downside for me it was a holiday Monday so it was tuesday before I could get towed. They did however keep me informed of progress and arranged everything for me. I was lucky I was traveleing in a group and also had a car in tow so between all of us we got the rv drug off the highway to a rest area and I got back to Tok with some friends who stayed behind. So in the next few weks if you drive past Willards RV center in Tok you can see my old 78 itasca sitting there waiting for parts. I'll have to make a run back over there and get it in a few weeks.Re: On the Road with "Roll Call Alaska 2013"......There is a flood watch in Tok area for the next few days the warm 75 degree weather the padt 5 days has caused raoid snow melt. The wster is close to the highway in places. My rv lost a transmission in Tok so I've been here longer thsn I planned to be....Re: Towing a toad to AlaskaI just get gravel and road tar all over my hood when I tow. So far it hasn't hurt the car, it's just a pain to clean it up when I get home.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2013Wow that is quite tye list. Ill be in Alaska this summer too but I'm also here all winter as well. If you see an old beat up Itasca rolling down the road with a missing nose hatch that is me. If I'm going towards Tok or back from Tok at the end of May I'll likely be towing a BMW behind me.Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today???I kicked the last of the ice away from the side facing the street...I also purchaced a new restroom vent since I stepped through the one that was on there since I didn't know exactly where it was while I was shoveling snow off of it this winter, the fan didn't work on it anyway....I also got a new China potty since the the 32 year galaxy original toilet wasn't working right. I'm going to attempt to dewinterize it this week as well since it's right at or slightly above freezing at night and I'm seeing more and more RVS moving around everyday, I want to go camping badly.Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today???I installed a hunter digital thermostat. Too bad I can't really check out how it works since I'm out of propane and can't fill it till April. But I can see what the temp inside is. That's a nice feature.Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today??? oldtrucker63 wrote: Nice work on the door, Makes me think I might need to check mine, I would hate to have a all new RV with a bad door. I think what got our door is 30 years of rain splashing on the bottom of the door, I think the seal failed around the window since the rot was far worse below the window than above it. The screws in the lower door were so rusted I didn't even need tools to remove some of them, the ones above the window still looked new. I know the door frame is rotted the bottom of our door frame has seperate from the rest of the frame and I can feel it being spongy. We also need to rebuild the overhead cab, and I can see a spot in the ceiling near the back vent that is all lumpy from being wet for a long time. We have eternabonded all the vents and seams and resealed all the windows, so I'm hoping we have stopped the leaks....I'm kind of dreading poking into the structure of the thing since I know it'll turn into a big project really fast....Re: What did you do to your Class C MH today???Well our door was becoming difficult to open and close after 33 years of bouncing along the road, so we took the door apart. and found all we had was a pile of wet sawdust and cardboard sandwiched between to door skins. So a trip to home depot and $30.00 in lumber we rebuilt the frame. After some screws and some liquid nails we had a frame. Then we glued it to the skin and installed the insulation panels in the void spaces. Then we installed the window. ANd then the new door lock and installed it on the RV. It was 1 am on thursday when we finished but I did go camping this weekend in Seward with the family. THe old door was so rotted it rattled and was very loud, I was amazed at how much noise went away once the door was once again solid. Now we have to fix the door frame, there is more rot at the bottom of the frame... THe total cost was just under $200.00 including wood, screws, glue, insulation, and new window surrounds and a modern lock (we had to modify the door frame to install this since it has a deadbolt. the deadbolt isn't functional on our rv) $94.00 of the cost was the new lock... It took 4 evening and about 24 hours of time to dismantle, clean the skins, figure out how to rebuild it, rebuild it, and assemble and rehang, and go on a test drive. Having a co-owner is nice since there are more hands and brainpower behind fixing stuff.Re: Canadian Campground PicsI didn't RV camp through Canada last month since I just got an RV last week, but here is a phot o of an RV park just north of Hudson Hope, BC, It was a nice place to stop even in a tent.
