Then load your freezer and refrigerator with pre frozen or chilled items and press the auto button on the eyebrow control panel of the refrigerator. We were loading it before it cooled down and it would never get cool, just the freezer part would freeze. Then we had a big storm move through the area and power was out for 5 or 6 hours in the entire state park. Low and behold our refrigerator worked like it was suppose to! Lesson learned.Re: How do you secure your bikes while camping? Check out this Toylok retractable cable locking system that you can attach to you RV for handy security of generators, bicycles, and ATV's.Re: California Battery Core DepositIn Kansas, the sales tax on the core is refunded. While on the subject of sales taxes.......I ordered some clothing items from an on-line out of state store and I was shocked that they charged sales tax on the items and sales tax on the shipping too.Re: Coleman lantern -- white gas?The price of Coleman fuel has gone up considerable lately. We do all of our cooking outside on an old three burner Coleman stove, so we use quite a bit of fuel to cook and heat water to do dishes. We found our local Academy Sports store is selling it for $ 7.99 a gallon. Hope this information saves you some money. Happy camping.fuelRe: Hitch ball greaseAny type of grease will do for the ball. But do not grease your weight distribution/anti sway bars (Equal-i-zer type). The contact points where the bars meet need the friction to do their job, and grease defeats the purpose.Re: Register of travel trailersWe live in Kansas and our pop-up trailer which was under 2,000 lbs. did not need to be titled or tagged....we did mount a Kansas under 2K plate we got at the RV dealer we stored it at......so when we traveled to Colorado and Missouri we wouldn't be stopped by the hwy patrol. But travel trailers over the 2,000 lb. limit need to be titled and licensed.Re: Troubleshoot furnaceMy guess would be you still have some air in the gas line going to your furnace. Try you burners on the stove and see if they light.Re: Dealing with the unpredicablity of life and your camper! The comment that "There is no bad weather" has apparently never had the experience our son and his family had on their very first camping trip with their brand new travel trailer and new pick up. High winds heavy rain, with hail, and a tornado. Only minor damage but my son and his wife were sweating bullets that night. Of course the two kids slept right through the whole thing! Do you remember your very first travel trailer trip? We ran out of water in the first 24 hours. We had a pop up camper before and quit filling the water after it started spurting back out. Met some nice fellow campers that loaned us a 100ft hose to go along with ours and all was good. Did find the problem was a fill tube that had a "goose neck" in the line due to the factory leaving excess tubbing sticking up from the fresh water tank.....pushed it down some and the problem was solved. Hope your problems are few and camping experiences memorable.Re: Winter projectThis is what I installed this season to disconnect the battery. Mounted it to the inside of the A frame near the battery, or you could mount it directly to the battery case. disconnectRe: No hot water in bathroomThanks everyone for you input on no hot water @ shower and bathroom sink. We washed our dog at the outside shower on our last trip in September and forgot to turn off the water valves .
