All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Florida panhandleFort Pickens is on an island south of Pensacola. $1 toll to cross the bridge going south, free going north. Fort Pickens has 4 'loops', and most people prefer the first ('A') loop. I don't know why. After you cross the$1 bridge onto Santa Rosa island, you will see high rise condos, restaurants, etc. NO GROCERY STORES....be supplied. You will turn right and go about 7 miles on a road with NOTHING but sand..........very pretty. At the campground there is a store with often-wanted items. At the end of the island is Fort Pickens, well worth a visit. T V reception is by antenna.........no cable T V. The beaches (north AND south of the campground) are fine, with clear water and white sand. You will walk from the campsite to either beach. Maybe some of the finest beaches in the world. Pensacola is a good tourist place........check out the various sites. P M me for more at nwaddell1@cox.netRe: Florida panhandleConsider Gulf Shores Alabama area, adjacent to Florida. There are many campgrounds in that area. P M me for suggestionsRe: Places to see in the SoutheastI suggest you base out of Gulf Shores Alabama. Look it up on R V Park Reviews...............many campgrounds......... email me for furtherRe: Why don't RVs need an earth ground for AC circuitsThis is NOT to answer your question, but it might interest you. Navy combat ships do NOT ground any system. The reason is that, with our 'normal' HOUSEHOLD grounded systems, if the HOT wire touches ground the breaker trips or the fuse blows. In combat, this is obviously NOT acceptable !............in place of the grounded system, a GROUND DETECT system is used to detect grounds, and they are removed as soon as possible. I have long thought that this should be extended to homes and businesses.Re: recommendation for RV park in MississippiHollywood R V Park, at Hollywood Casino, in Bay St Louis MS. Excellent place.Re: Water "Proofing" 30 amp ConnectionsI suppose not many people will believe this,but... The KWH meter at my house, which handles 220 Volts and 200 Amperes had the glass enclosure FILL...FILL with water. I assume it was condensation in the humid climate on the Mississippi coast. I called the power company, and was told that frequently happens, and that I should ignore it....the almost pure rain water would not conduct electricity.......I ignored it, for years. No problems. (Maybe it slowed the turning of the meter and saved me a dollar or two?)Re: florida panhandleConsider Gulf Shores Alabama...........many R V parks. Private Message me for suggestionsRe: Hollywood Casino and Campground in MSHollywood is an EXCELLENT campground.........wide spaces, old large trees, transportation (or walk) to casino, huge casino, great restaurant (get a discount card at a desk in the casino), golf.
