The 4600 and the 5100 about the same price, just want to make sure I get the right shocks. Its a stock truck no added lift.F250 FX-4 shocksI bought a new 2016 8 foot bed F-250 FX-4 last Aug. I hauled my fifth wheel from NY to Florida. While I was there I noticed the ride had gotten real bouncy. I had to take a trip back to NY without the fifth wheel and the ride was terrible. Is it possible the shocks went bad after just 5000 miles? I have done a little reading about the quality of the Ford Rancho shocks on the FX4 being junk. Has anyone else had this same problem? Recommendations?Re: Switch From Diesel to Gas. kw/00 wrote: Glad you found what your looking for, sorry to see the thread always goes off topic... When it comes to short or long beds I have always preferred short beds. Easier to park in my book. I would drive both and have the wife do the same to see what you both prefer just in case she drives. Both have advantages and disadvantages so its really up to you. I just wanted to also express about a 4X4 if your able to get one. Money well spent in my book. Keep us posted and hopeful that we can stay on track around here....... Well if all goes well I will pick up the new truck this weekend. 2016 F-250 6.2 with 4:30 rear 8 foot box. I decided on the 8 foot so I dont have to mess with slider like I did with my crew short box. Hit the cab twice luckily no broken window. Also went with the 4x4 just in case. Got a good trade and a good no dicker price I want to thank everyone for all the helpful opinionsRe: Switch From Diesel to Gas.I am looking a 4 different trucks right now all 4x4 and all 4:30 rear end. Dont find much but 4X4 in NY. Besides that, the one I did find looked real low to the ground. Guess I am just used to seeing the 4x4 on the road. 3 are 8 foot beds and 1 is a short. All nice trucks but the short bed is a Lariat and really stands out from the others. Lots of options not needed. But we will see how they deal tomorrow. Ill let you know how I made out :}Re: Switch From Diesel to Gas.This has gone far from my original questions. Since than I have found a couple 4:30 Fords out of town. One more ? What is everone prefeence ? Short box or long with the supercabRe: Switch From Diesel to Gas.SO I have been looking online and calling dealers. and nobody has a 2016 f-350 with the 4:30 rear end. So looks like I will need to order to get what I want, but they are not even taking orders yet. Not sure I want a brand new design made out of Aluminum but I may not have a choice. Thanks for all your comments.Re: Switch From Diesel to Gas.So one more question. 4 wheel drive or 2? I have owned this camper and truck 5 years and have never needed the 4 wheel drive while out traveling. Any thought on this? Is it worth the added expense and weight of the 4 wheel drive. Any problems that can be arise from the added drive train of the 4?Re: Switch From Diesel to Gas.So let me fill you in on problems I have with 2008 F-350 Diesel. This thing goes into exhaust cleaning mode whenever, there is no pattern to it. And it seems to happen when I need it to run good like going up a hill, on ramps when I need to get up to speed, passing etc. Also it hesitates terrible at times spitting out blue smoke, again there is no pattern to it. I have tried using a ctane booster and injector cleaner, makes no difference. This being my first diesel truck I am not impressed. Dealer says everything checks out. Also this truck is starting to rust pretty bad the previous owner didn’t take good care of it. 63000 miles and I have holes in the bed. This is why I am thinking of dumping it before I have some major problem that will cost thousands to fix. One other note. This year was my first long trip with it. From NY to Fl. It is a total pain in the neck stopping for fuel with this camper attached there only seems to be one or maybe 2 pumps for diesel and the rest gas. OK I am done whining. :}Re: Switch From Diesel to Gas.The 318 is plenty big for the 2 of us. I dont see us going bigger. I still might go with the 350. There is not much of a price differenceSwitch From Diesel to Gas.I have a 2008 Ford F-350 and I tow a 2010 Cougar 318 SAB fifthwheel. GVWR on the camper is 11850. I have been having issues with the truck and I am thinking of trading it in on a new F-250 with the 6.2 gas and the 430 rear end. Should be rated to tow 15000#. I believe the pin weight is around 1500#. What do you think? Will it do the job? I will be traveling mainly on the east coast. Mostly from NY to Fl.
