I tried tape and various coatings but ultimately had to get the slide rebuilt as water wicked down the sides of slide and then along the now porous and torn liner.Re: Feedback on 12V water heater element as solar diversion loadI would check what the load circuit is rated for as normally its a few LED lights, small 12v fan or plugging in USB ports for phones/tablet etc. I wouldn't think it could manage any sort of big load unless you had a pretty sizeable setup (think grid tie system on a house with 3000-4000W of solar.Re: Cargo trailers to tow behind an RVI have never towed a cargo trailer behind an rv but many buddies double tow behind 5er's. Their suggestion to me was to consider a 2 axle setup that makes a blowout an inconvenience vs an instant destabilizing event you may not see until its too late. I would be curious to hear others thoughts on this scenario. DaryllRe: Propane Tank IssuesSome propane setups come with a manifold where the LP can split off to furnace, hot water heater, stove, oven and external bbq. Should there be more outlets than needed the manifold may have a "plug" on an unneeded outlet. If that plug is loose or missing then you would lose LP from it. Maybe post a pic for folks to look atRe: ALWAYS something!I think many of us sometimes question the balance of fun vs frustration of rv's. I just put thousands of dollars into suspension, bearings, and slide repairs and it almost broke my spirit. Then we set up for a few wonderful trips with family and friends and I realized yes its been great. You really need to be handy and take the break downs in stride cause they happen more and more with todays "shoddy" units. I bet a lot of folks got into rv's during Covid and are now regretting the payments/storage/maintenance/insurance etc that go into our hobby. Life is short so im glad to put up with the negatives to enjoy the positives. Costly, but its as tough as they come, and the chains also get locked up in the coupler. You need to send them a photo of your coupler to match the exact fit for maximum protection. https://www.provenlocks.com/Re: Real life solar results400W of solar + pwm controller + cables/brackets $1000 CDN 2 x Kirkland 6v golf cart batteries $320 1800W modifies sine wave inverter powering 1/3 of the rv plugs $400 I could benefit from another pair of GC batts as I am topped off before noon and have less margin to use heavy loads. I rarely bring out our Honda 2000 unless its for microwave or other big loads. Very happy with my setup and it opens up so many off grid opportunities.Re: 6 Volt Battery Winter Maintenance Advice?Big fan of the Deltran battery tender chargers. You can decide what model suits your needs and budget.Re: Battery Replacement? My batts are from 2012 and seem to be ok. I would say if they start your truck and aren't leaking then get a load test done and decide from there. If they are ok why toss them and pay all that money for new ones.
