The cover really does protect the roof and especially the decals from leaf stains and sun damage. Re: Maintenance for Silicone Roof Coating on EDPM Good luck with your repair. I think my biggest mistake was not buying the 5 gal. bucket of Tropicool 887. I started by washing the roof, then applied the 884 caulk to areas that the Eternabond tape was lifting. I used the Tropicool Stop Leak (in a spray can) around a few irregular shaped areas such as a skylite over the shower. Not the whole skylite, just the edges where it meets the roof. That can of 880 Stop Leak does not contain much product. I am thinking about doing my whole roof again with just the 887. However, I am in my 70's and don't really like being on the roof anymore. Good luck! Re: Maintenance for Silicone Roof Coating on EDPM I own a 2003 Alumascape trailer with EPDM roof. Twenty years ago I put Eternabond tape on all the roof seams. Four years ago I found Henry's Tropicool at Home Depot and bought 2 cans .9 gallon each. It went on very easily with a roller and looked good. I tried 2 of the aerosol spray cans and they were a bust. The product was too thick to be sprayed and I felt that was a waste of money. Just recently I noticed some small areas starting to peel off. I believe I should have applied 2 more .9 gal cans when I did my initial application. One other problem I had was my roller I used to spread it was losing fibers. Make sure you get a good quality roller. BTW my trailer is 25' long. Water heater drain plug? Trailer about 21 years old. Trailer about 21 years old and I have never removed the plastic drain plug on my Atwood water heater. Do you think if I remove that "nylon" plug and flush out the water heater I will be able to reinstall plug and have no drips?? I just completed a kitchen faucet replacement and luckily had no leaks. Kitchen faucet leaks under countertop. Kitchen faucet leaks in 22 y.o. Alumascape trailer. It's not the water supply connection under the countertop, it's coming from within the faucet body. What's the best source for a new faucet? Re: AAA ERS FAILI had the exact same problem with AAA. I was in northern Nevada on I80 when a tire blew a hole in the wheel well of my travel trailer. Triple A was NO help. Been paying for their road service for all my vehicles and the trailer for years and they totally failed me. While I surveyed the damage my wife spent an hour getting jerked around by what seemed like incompetent AAA employees. I began to jack up the trailer while truckers were whizzing by just a few feet from the side of my trailer. Had a devil of a time as the steel belts were wrapped tightly around the axle. Cut my arms up pretty good before I was able to get the spare on. Definitely not a happy camper when it comes to AAA.Re: Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesThanks for all your responses. Been reading everything I can find re: Progressive Dynamics and multi-stage converters. Reports were good. Thanks Skibane for the advice on portable solar panels. Since we try to find a nice shady spot to park the trailer a portable panel would work for us. Thanks everyone.Re: Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesThanks. I am looking at going with the Progressive Dynamics lower section replacement. This will have to wait until I return from this trip in 2 weeks. Does anybody know if while camping and the generator is running could I safely Hookup a 10amp variable charger to battery posts at the same time as the converter is plugged in via the trailer power cord?Re: Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesHaha, yes we get a lot of sun. Actually we are heading out Labor Day for two weeks and usually try to get a shady spot. Just was reading about the Parallax 7355 and still don't understand how to figure the battery charge rate from the converter. It's variable but Parallax states in the manual that it puts out a rate of about .5amp. I know it starts out at a higher rate of charge but quickly drops to .5amp. Anyone have any idea of how long it charges initially at a higher rate??Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesHi all, I have a 2004 HR Alumascape which has given me 18 years of fun. We mostly dry camp. Usually I run the 2000W Yamaha generator every 2 or 3 days for a couple of hours to keep the batteries charged. I have read many comments here about older converters not being very good at charging the two deep cycle batteries. My converter is the Parallax 7355. So far, after 18 years this has worked okay for us but I just had an idea- What if when I fire up the generator and plug in the trailer power cord I also hook-up a 10amp variable rate charger connected directly to the battery posts. Would not this shorten the run time needed to bring battery charge up?
