Triple A was NO help. Been paying for their road service for all my vehicles and the trailer for years and they totally failed me. While I surveyed the damage my wife spent an hour getting jerked around by what seemed like incompetent AAA employees. I began to jack up the trailer while truckers were whizzing by just a few feet from the side of my trailer. Had a devil of a time as the steel belts were wrapped tightly around the axle. Cut my arms up pretty good before I was able to get the spare on. Definitely not a happy camper when it comes to AAA.Re: Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesThanks for all your responses. Been reading everything I can find re: Progressive Dynamics and multi-stage converters. Reports were good. Thanks Skibane for the advice on portable solar panels. Since we try to find a nice shady spot to park the trailer a portable panel would work for us. Thanks everyone.Re: Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesThanks. I am looking at going with the Progressive Dynamics lower section replacement. This will have to wait until I return from this trip in 2 weeks. Does anybody know if while camping and the generator is running could I safely Hookup a 10amp variable charger to battery posts at the same time as the converter is plugged in via the trailer power cord?Re: Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesHaha, yes we get a lot of sun. Actually we are heading out Labor Day for two weeks and usually try to get a shady spot. Just was reading about the Parallax 7355 and still don't understand how to figure the battery charge rate from the converter. It's variable but Parallax states in the manual that it puts out a rate of about .5amp. I know it starts out at a higher rate of charge but quickly drops to .5amp. Anyone have any idea of how long it charges initially at a higher rate??Charging trailer deep cycle batteriesHi all, I have a 2004 HR Alumascape which has given me 18 years of fun. We mostly dry camp. Usually I run the 2000W Yamaha generator every 2 or 3 days for a couple of hours to keep the batteries charged. I have read many comments here about older converters not being very good at charging the two deep cycle batteries. My converter is the Parallax 7355. So far, after 18 years this has worked okay for us but I just had an idea- What if when I fire up the generator and plug in the trailer power cord I also hook-up a 10amp variable rate charger connected directly to the battery posts. Would not this shorten the run time needed to bring battery charge up?Re: Fluorescent to LED conversionAnother benefit is less bugs. I changed from fluorescent to LED to save energy but an added plus is knats, moths etc don't seem to be attracted to LEDs..Re: Best RV coverLwiddis, I bought my first Rv cover from National and it lasted 4 years which I was happy with considering our intense sun. I believe Eevelle makes all of Nationals covers. My complaint was about my most recent Goldline cover purchased 2 years ago has already shredded due to sun damage. This cover was almost $500 and much poorer quality than my prior Goldline cover purchased thru National.Re: Best RV coverMitch, I think you got your money's worth on that Adco cover. I notice you say you use it mostly in the winter. I use mine all year round and think it's the summer sun that killed mine.Best RV coverHi all, I have a 25' Alumascape travel trailer that is 17 years old but in nearly perfect shape. I have always kept it covered to protect it from sun damage and also my neighbor's giant tree that drops a ton of leaves. I have used Eevelle covers in the past and got about 4 years service out of each. However, my most recent Eevelle Goldline cover (their best) only lasted 2 years. This cover was not the same quality of the prior covers. These covers have a 5 year warranty. I have been unable to reach Eevelle by phone or email, After 6 weeks of trying to contact the company I am looking for suggestions on what company makes the best covers. Most of the reviews I see online suggest people only get a year or two use out of the typical cover. Anybody know a superior brand?? .Re: Adventures in RV buying... (Long)My experience has been that once you arrange financing, sign the contract, and take delivery, the dealer is done with you. The salesman won't remember any of the items he assured you would be repaired. His memory will be completely blank. However, having been through all that myself once, I fixed everything myself and went on to enjoy many happy vacations with my family. I felt like I had gotten a very good price on a new, but imperfect, trailer and was willing to do some repairs on my own. I hope things work out for you. Dale
