All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsTript o Texas from PaWe left Pa March 12th from Pa.Drove through a snow storm the first day. Stayed in state or federal campgrounds.Paid anywhere from $7.50 a nigh with water and electric to $45 a night with full hookups. Paid between $5.25 and $4.79 for diesel. Weather near San Antonio was cool and breezy most of the time.On the way back we hot heavy rain in Arkansas and Eastern Tennessee. We witnessed about 2 dozen accidents because people were driving like idiots in the rain.Tractor trailers off the road on their sides, box truck headfirst into a tree to multi car pile ups.Tonight we're at Panther Creek State park in Eastern Tennessee. Best weather of the trip so far. 77 degrees.Re: Yellowstone with petsWe have a Labrador retriever, sometimes left her in the trailer, other times we took her with. No problems.Re: st augustine flWe stayed at Hannah Park.Re: Driving through D.C.I did it once but not by choice. Our GPS took us through by mistake. We realized we were in the wrong lane and even though I had my turn signal on,no one would let us over. We eventually saw signs for 95 and got out of there but I would not recommend it. Get a campsite and then drop your daughter off.Re: Homeless people coming to your favorite campground!I'm sure many of us have seen this at one time or another. A number of years ago, a family group was staying at a state park we were at.Their campsite was pretty run down having one tent, one pickup truck and several tarps. I know the ranger stopped by daily to talk to them. They never caused any issues except putting old tires in the dumpster. But the homeless problem is real. Much of it caused by government. Many of the homeless are mentally ill who have no where to go since they closed down many mental hospitals in our state. And I recently read California has half of the homeless in the country. I don't know if that's because of the warm weather or better government welfare or both. But it's a real problem that isn't being addressed properly.Wouldn't it be great if the government took old military bases and allowed the homeless to live their where they could be given help with healthcare and informed of job opportunities?Re: Pennsylvania Route RecommendationsRt 6 has a lot to see. The Lumber Museum would be cool for the kids as would Kinzua Bridge. There are several state / federal parks along the way. Tioga Hammond Lakes is a federal campground with a lake and swimming beach. Hills Creek is a Pa State park not far off Rt 6.Re: Myrtle Beach - Ocean Lakes, Pirateland or LakewoodI would vote for Huntington Beach State Park. Short walk to the beach, nice nature lodge with nature walks, camp store and tour the former home of the Huntingtons. Some FHU sites, the rest W&E.It is much, much cheaper than the others.Just down the road from Murrel's Inlet.Re: Using RV in winter, including wateryears ago we were in Gallup,New Mexico and it got down to 15 and was snowing. We disconnected the water from the hydrant even though it had heat tape on it and just used the water in the tank. No problems. But that was just for one night. The next night we were in Williams ,AZ and it was a balmy 32. I would say it depends on how low the temperature gets, how long it stays cold and if it's windy. The wind blowing through cracks or across water lines can freeze things up quickly.Re: Florida tripEither end of October or beginning of April. You'll miss the snowbirds and the temps are usually nice that time of year.Re: Towing through New York CityMany years ago I pulled our pop up through NYC. Never again.
