Looks like they did away with the "Light load tire pressure" button like my 2013 has, but if you have a light load pressure listed on your door sticker, try setting your rear tires to that, the TPMS may be unhappy because the pressure is between the loaded pressure and the light load pressure. The truck will ride much nicer, if I recall correctly it's 48 PSI on my 2013 Ram 2500 for the rear tires under light load conditions. My tires have 26000 miles on them now, and the wear is even. Only fun is when you rotate the tires, they have to change the pressure in all four tires, and you have to drive a bit for the TPMS to re-detect which tire is where.Re: Flat towing with a 3rd row?Jeep Commander and the current generation Dodge Durango (both based on the Grand Cherokee) have third row options and should be flat towable in 4WD trim, if they have the low range transfer case with neutral. There were AWD options without low range that are not flat towable, so you need to check and make sure it has a neutral position.Re: Transmission changeGear vendors overdrives are pricey, over $3000 without installation, and only work in 2WD. Also, I'm not sure that the GV overdrive is compatible with the NP 205 transfer case in your truck. And you'd need new driveshaft. The problem is going to be matching the spline count and mounting flange on the transfer case. Advance adapters probably has the one you'll need in stock. You'll need to look for a manual transmisison 3/4 ton or 1 ton Dodge V8 powered 4x4 truck from 1994 to 2002, which should have the V8 version of the NV4500 5 speed. You cannot use the transfer case out of the donor truck, it will be driver's side drop, your truck is passenger side drop (front drive shaft). You could mate a late 80's / 1990-93 NV241 transfer case to the NV4500 (like the transfer case in my 1990 Ramcharger). Personally, I'd go with the NV4500 and adapter, keeping the 205 transfer case... as a cast iron gear drive case, it's fairly bulletproof. You'd probably still be able to keep your current driveshafts, depending on the difference in length with adapter between the NV4500 and the four speed that's currently in your truck.Re: So what have you found to be the best all around dinghy? Blanco1 wrote: I really wanted a Subaru outback or Volvo V70 wagon but from everything I've read flat towing a AWD is a BAD IDEA!?!? I really do appreciate your input guys, Thanks a lot & keep it coming. :) You can flat tow most Subarus with manual transmissions, so look for a manual transmission Outback, and you should be good to go. The boxy 1991 - 2001 XJ Jeep Cherokee 4x4 would be a very good tow, moderate weight, lots of space underneath to work on, rock solid drive train with the high output 4.0 liter inline six and Aisin AW-4 automatic. All four wheel drive Cherokees in that year range should be flat towable and easy to tow. If you want more luxury, look for a WJ, 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 with the inline 6 (or V8), a bit heavier, but still very nice. The WK (2005 - 2010 Grand Cherokee) is out of your price range and probably heavier than you'd want to tow.
