I used 2X2's for the rails and dowels for the ladder rungs. looks great and now the kids don't have to climb the bunks like gorillas. This is the pattern that I followed from the other website: Here is the material from a previous post in this forum from another member that they posted. Total Height = 51 1/4" (including 1/4" felt pads on the feet) Total Width = 10" Rung Width = 7" Sides = 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" square fir (labelled as 2x2 though...but it's not!) Rungs = 1" Hardwood round dowel First Rung = 21 1/4" from floor Second Rung = 31 1/4" from floor Third Rung = 41 1/4" from floor Use a 1" forstner bit to drill your holes, can do 1" depth into each side. Very strong! Also, round over your outside top corner. Check your height. It may differ slightly from trailer to trailer. I kept the top flush with the top edge to help avoid any clothing snags or injuries. All purchased from home depot in the trim/moulding section.Re: Top bunk accessI had the same problem, I searched on this website and the Jayco owners website and found a great design that was simple and took about 1/2 hour to make. Now people won't know if I'm gone or not! :) Can you tell me the dimensions to your garage? Did you take your camper and add more length for a possible upgrade? Thank you for all the help. I'm looking at building one just like this for my TT, but I'm trying to figure out a size and price.Re: looking to buy a bunk style TT... where to start?I have to say, we researched the heck out of campers that have the double over double bunks and found that the Jayco Whitehawk 28DSBH fit our needs with two growing kids also. We've done some longer trips and it tows like a dream. The quality is wonderful. It all comes down to what is best for YOUR family, good luck.Re: Equalizer brand Hitch problemsThank you all for your ideas. And yes I did follow the instructions on setting up the hitch from scratch. But when I do, that's when I get more sway. In the spring I'm going to try a few different things. I may look at going back to what I had and taking out 1 washer to help with the grinding and popping.Re: Equalizer brand Hitch problemsI forgot to put that info, sorry. It's a Jayco Whitehawk and I've tried keeping all the heavy things in the front of the TT.Equalizer brand Hitch problemsWhen I first purchased our TT the dealer set up our WD hitch, the nose of the camper was obviously lower than the rear. It towed like a dream, even in severe wind. The hitch did moan a little when we would do slow turns. Then I started reading too much and read that the TT should be as level as possible. So I adjusted the hitch height on my WD so that the TT is level and now the camper is really squirly even on a calm day, which makes it really difficult to tow. Should I go back to nose down or try something else? I'm at wits end, ANY help is MUCH appreciated.Re: Rentering the RV lifestyle. Questions on Bunkhouse TT's. When you compare the bunk size also look at max bunk weights. Whitehawk's are 600lbs and most others are 250-350. We've had grown-ups sleep in our top double bunk and they were comfortable. Good luck shopping, there are alot of choices. Sorry I meant to include only the picture, not the whole post...
