Here in Colo. you pay sales tax on the Difference, not the retail price, if you trade.Re: State income tax for each state for full time employee? It sounds like you just need to work more while on Vacation.... smiles everyone. 'Well I DO work full time, 2 weeks a year.' Most of this society, is not set up to accommodate our migratory way of life, I'm afraid.Re: Anyone ever get in legal trouble over residency issues?Several states have 'residency' statutes, defining what you Must do, If you state in that state for over a certain period of time. From what I've read and heard it's mostly Not enforced however. I'm not trolling, so let's leave this as a 'stand alone' posting. IF you are stopped/questioned as to your business in the state, just be careful how you frame your reply. lol Otherwise you could end up paying fines, taxes, plate fees, etc....... IF That state decides you live there! I'm not a fulltimer. Only a part timer from Colorado, and yes my vehicles do cost me quite a bit more to own than SD, Tx, or Alaska, etc.... but that's how we pay for our roads here. IIRC The residency threshold in Co, is 45 'continuous days'. That said, I've only known it to be enforced once in over 40 years personally. But the ticket was just south of $1500..... ouch.Re: Title an RV into deed to claim a mortgage interest deduction JoeTampa wrote: Are there any tax benefits of any kind if you own the RV outright? YES! You don't make payments anymore!!!!! LOL It's a nicer position to be in, I think.Re: How many of us are there? The hard line that leads to the rear brakes was, cold welded/rusted frozen aint budgin' on the verge of breaking, to the nut. I did the pb blaster thing for a few days. Kept trying to work the line free with minimal twisting. I then found out about the acetone/atf concoction. Tried that for a few days. Kept everything wet the best I could but being a liquid doesn't allow much to sit there. I left things alone for probably two weeks. Went out there with a pair of pliers to hold the line and a 9/16 line wrench for the nut. Held the line firmly while twisting the nut back and forth and voila, she broke loose. I cried but nobody saw. The whole ordeal spanned prolly three weeks but I was amazed I was able to save the brake line. We're going to have to change your handle to 'Jobe', in honor of your patience!!! CongratsRe: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?PoorGary IIRC, I saw a thread that recommended the front tires/wheels/brakes, be protected from water drainage (especially durning the 'off season'). I suspect this is especially true for coaches that have the offset wheels for the Dualies. Short story: Yup, you get to free up the calipers. Sorry, it's a PITA.Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Meghan I'd second the mechanical check!!! The top end on the small block Dodges (in MHs), seem to need a 'head job',,,, at about 70-80k miles. Trannys tend to need attention 50-100k miles, depending on usage, and preventive maintenance. Rear axle seals, are old and brittle. If they haven't been replaced yet. Front end suspension joints loose? Rubber bushings in spring hangers? I hope the lot you rent is in the SOUTH.... or northern Mexico..... Not much insulation, and the windows are single pane,,,,, and they tend to leak air (a lot). In these old rigs, it is cold and drafty as soon as the furnace stops. So not comfortable even if you use a ton of propane. Electric heaters on low, are on longer and thus more comfortable,,, perhaps a bit more expensive (or a lot more expensive... depending). Probably be cheaper to rent a place for the winter? I don't mean to rain on your parade.... but I'm sitting at 7500 feet and it's already cold and drafty in my TT (mid to high 30s F for lows)...... I'm getting ready to go back to the house in Denver as we speak.Re: Volunteers needed in Washington State fire fighthing usmcshepherd wrote: its a great representation of what makes America great! When fellow American's answer the call for help in situations like this. YES; All 2% of us who raised our right hands! Of course now days, I tend to be with the 98% who had 'better' things to do than 'run and gun'. Tough call for folks 'that care'.Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?A LOT depends on the year of the engine as well. Horsepower decreased substantially from the 60s. Some of the 70-80s engines were so detuned that they DESERVE to have a turbo added. The added 'breathability' is most welcome in the mountains.
