Every time I had to dump my holding tanks, I was embarrassed having to get on my knees to reach under the camper to connect the sewer hose. Most other campers have a sewer connector at an easily accessible point at the side of the camper. My fix was to purchase three items, all after market to extend the sewer connection to the side of my 1181. A 90 degree elbow, a slider valve and a short sewer extension long enough to reach the edge of the camper. All clear plastic, to see what was happening as I dumped. Clear water, clean; dirty water keep flushing and no drip with fluids still in pipe after closing tank valve. This unit is held in place with a bracket that use two of the top bolts on the valve and has a 90 degree bend for bolting to the storage compartment above. After 1312 viewers of this thread, I hope is a Lance factory person sees this. My dealer has suggested this idea to them with photos, but; nothing has happened. I too love my Lance, on my third one.Re: Mapping out our trip to Yellowstone - helpThe tour buses get on the road at 10:00am and are usually back to the motel by 3:00PM. We get up early and do not have a lot of other people it deal with early in the day. With Yellowstone, being the number one Natl. park in America, plan on a lot of tour buses with people to match.Re: Fantastic fanOne thing no one has mentioned is that factory installed vents can only be out flow vents on most tc. This a DOT rule. Something to do with the plumbing vent pipes and proximity to air vent on the roof. With the size of a tc roof it is hard to get enough distance between the vent pipe and the vent. I have two Fantastic vents with air flow in and out. That is the advantage of after market installation.Re: Lance Cab Over Strut Bracket LocationHad struts installed on my new Lance 1181 yesterday. The technician said there should be four inches of travel between the top end (on the shaft) of the strut and the cylinder for travel. That all I know. With the bad roads in USA, the struts do help as I can attest to. I have seen other camper brands using struts. Truck Camper Mag did a good test of struts.Picking up new 1181 in the AMPicking up 2014 Lance 1181 at dealership with bench dinette. Had the dealer convert new camper to old style bench dinette along with extra cabinets and some other goodies. After forty-three years of truck camper ownership, I have exactly what I want in a truck camper. Worked with Krammer Kampers of Zion, IL to modify the camper. It is a lot different than the Little Caboose we started with back in 1971. With snow on the ground, it will give me some time to add some personal touches before good weather is here and it is camping time.Re: inside vent coversVent covers also work well during the hot summer to help when the air conditioner is operating. Vents are cold in the winter and hot in the summer.Re: interior heating questionWe do a lot of early spring and late fall camping. We use a electric heated matress pad with individual controls for warmth at night. That way you can easily adjust the heat of the bed with out getting out of bed to adjust the thermostat. A pad is under you, so the heat raises unlike a heating blanket which is on top of you. With out shore power we start the generator to power the matress pad for 10-15 minutes to warm up the bed before we turn in.Re: Our First TC Outing Starts Tomorrow. Woohooo!Have fun on your new adventure. I can remember my first truck camper trip in 1970, which was the first of many trips. We have visited 47 of the 50 states once and some many times. America is a wonderful palce for veiwing nature.Re: Ratchet and Socket setI use to buy all Craftsnam tools until Harbor Freight store came to my city. Now I buy HF tool and have had good luck with them. I broke a deep wall impact socket and HF replaced the whole set of sockets. HF has the same warranty as Crafteman and others. Craftsman tools and not a "sleek" today as their older tools were, with more mass around box end and combination wrenches. I can buy two or more sets of wrenches from HF, for the same money as I can buy one set of Craftsmen wrenches.Re: BUYING 2004 LANCE 1030. DO I NEED AIRBAGSI had a 2007 1030 and maybe a super spring would fit the bill for you. I had air bags and they raised up the height of the bed on my 2006 350 SRW.
