Supposedly, asphalt, concrete, and even dirt suck the lubricants out of the tires and treated lumber does not. I also cover them during non-use periods. I live in NC and do not travel during the winter months so my Class C is in outside storage during that time.Re: RV and Camping interest is risingWe have been traveling quite a bit the last couple of years and it seems like there is an increase RVing. My problem is not the availability of sites but the quality. We are at a campground in Pigeon Forge TN that has made sites that you can't get level in them. The sites have been constructed on hills with just gravel added, no concern for level. It would have been so easy to just dig into the hill, level the ground and construct a wall out of masonry or timbers. I sometimes wonder if campground owners have ever camped in their lives.Re: rvparkreviews.com - favor couples? If you want to go to a munchkin friendly park, go to Asheville East KOA in Swananoa NC.Onan GeneratorDuring our recent cross country trip we encountered generator problems. Before reaching the Seattle area it started to give us trouble but I decided to wait until we were at a location for a few days before getting it repaired. I called Pro-Tow and Motorplex of Maple Valley WA and Auburn WA at 253-245-5400. The dispatcher assured me they could affect the repair. When the repairman arrived, he only had a bag of tools and no parts. He didn't know how to start my generator and guessed that was dirty and he said that he hadn't had any luck with cleaning them. He had no idea where to get parts. To keep from having local legal problems I agreed to his charge. I later called the dispatcher and expressed my dissatisfaction and she admitted that they did not normally perform generator repairs then why even accept the job? At this time I suspected a scam. I would suggest that anyone needing repairs in the Seattle area not contact this company. SIDE NOTE: We had it cleaned in Austin TX and it works fine now.Our 2014 Vacation - CampgoundsWe recently returned from our trip which took us to many states and campgrounds. Here are the ones we stayed at and some comments. 1. Renfro Valley KY KOA - nice cg 2. Toledo East/Stony Ridge OH KOA - out of the way when traveling on Interstate 3. Port Huron MI KOA - nice cg but busy during summer 4. Chicago Northwest IL KOA - nice cg 5. Rochester/Marion MN KOA - nice cg 6. Kennebec SD KOA - used to be well managed sort of run down now. Needs lots of TLC 7. Peter D's RV Park WY - nice cg 8. Issaquah Village WA RV Park - avoid this cg at all costs. It is an old cg with sites being very small. We had to walk on our neighbor's site just to set up. Management knows nothing about managing a cg and doesn't seem to care about its campers. 9. Crescent City/Redwoods WA KOA - a great place to camp. Lots of redwoods in cg 10. Travis AFB CA FamCamp - military only - nice cg but doesn't seem to be well managed 11. Lake Isabella/Kern River CA KOA - skip it - river is about 10 miles away - no grass in site 12. Needles CA KOA - nice cg but again no grass 13. Davis-Monthan AFB AZ FamCamp - military only - nice cg that is well managed 14. Alamogordo/White Sands NM KOA - nice cg, lots of seasonals/permanent campers - nice lady in office 15. Van Horn TX KOA - nice cg but no shade 16. Shreveport/Bossier City LA Koa - new to KOA nice cg some shade 17. Ameristar Casino, Hotel & RV Park Vicksburg MS - nice cg but no shade 18. Lakeside Landing RV Park Cropwell Al - nice cg but busy with boat traffic on adjacent lake 19. Anderson/Lake Hartwell SC KOA - lots of shade, nice office staffRe: New Brunswick & Nova Scotia 2014We toured around Halifax this past summer and some of the places in your post and had a great time. I suggest you avoid the KOA in Upper Sackville -- our stay there was a nightmare -- see RVParkReviews. We changed our Verizon service to include Canada and Mexico which was a big mistake. Our bill has been screwed up ever since. I understand there are other services that you can purchase separately and just not use your Verizon service while there. Also avoid the Blue Nose II restaurant in Halifax. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.Re: YellowstoneWe camped at Fishing Bridge in June 2006 and had a great experience. Staff was helpful and friendly. Sites were spacious and well maintained. Some rules about leaving food out overnight due to wild animals, especially bears. Two hints: bring some warmer clothing as it was sleeting when we entered from the East and the temp dropped at night. If you see a group of cars along the road, be sure to stop as there will likely be a wild animal nearby. If memory serves, you can only fish in Yellowstone Lake and you will need a license. Hope you have a great time, as we did.Re: Bad Lands in SD were to stayWe stayed at the Mount Rushmore KOA in 2006. This puts you very close the Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse both of which you need to visit to see the light shows at night , Deadwood, and Custer State Park. We visited the Bad Lands and Wall Drug both in one day. Don't forget to stop at the prairie dog farm in the Bad Lands. Have a nice trip as we most certainly did in that area.Re: What do you pull behind small class c ?We went out west last year and just returned from Nova Scotia. We used to tow but gave that up to relieve the associated stress. On both trips we rented from Enterprise which is a little inconvenient but worth the hassle less travel. NOTE: rental car costs in Nova Scotia are about twice that stateside.Re: Asheville campgroundsAsheville East is without a doubt a great choice. We have stayed there many times and always enjoy our stays. There is a pool, a river running through the campground which is usually docile, and several large lakes for fishing. They offer cabins, a few lodges, a few pull thrus, and sites along the river. Don't let some of the grumpy old coots who take you to your site ruin your stay --- ignore them, move on, and have a great time.
