A couple questions come to mind if an adjustment is in order. From what i'm reading frame of trailer should should ride close to level or within 1" higher in front than back if possible while on truck considering truck is level also. Have airbags and currently run 39-40 psi to level truck. Now trailer rides even higher front to back. Measurements will be made shortly when hitched up on next trip. Question #1- Better to raise the pinbox before lowering the hitch? Torque lbs necessary to make this change on the trailer? (Morryde pinbox) Question #2- Optimum distance between the bottom of the trailer to the bed rails of the truck? (Have safety bar from Butch's Services on Reese 16K hitch) I guess that was three questions. Lowering the hitch would be the easier adjustment, but want to do this right. It has been suggested by Camping World to get rig weighed first and determine the weight on the rear axle of the truck and determine all actual loads of the rig and trailer. Don't want to open a can of worms here. The reason for the questions is that i've noticed excessive outside tire wear on the rear tires compared to front and that opens another long list of responses on the tire and towing forum and i don't want to go there yet. Any thoughts would be appreciated.Re: water in the underbellyHave you driven in the rain lately? Our Montana gets about a gallon of clear water when we drive in hard rain. Placed small hole in low point of underbelly. Problem solved. Be sure water isn't coming from someplace else though.Re: When to winterize in the SWI Agree with Captain_Happy. We winter camp and watch the lows at night and the storms that come through. We're also farther South, so we open the low point drains, remove the anode and drain the water heater, blow the lines with the compressor then put pink stuff in all the drains. Never had an issue and the lowest was at 17 for several days in a row without any problems. When we get ready to go I just fill up hot water tank at our destination. New Mexico is a little colder than Arizona though.Pine sap removal from rubber roof on slide outHave our 5er parked in a spot under a pine tree and noticed a significant amount of sap on one of the slides. Really don't want to drag through the seal before we leave next month. Suggestions for removal without damaging the rubber? Thanks.Re: Water collecting in underbellyFor what it's worth, drove through a three inch rainstorm in Arizona in January (unusual) and had nearly a gallon of clear water in the underbelly. Montana owner's forum noted that this happens a lot. Placed small hole at low point. Problem solved. I guess spray from underside of truck is tremendous during a downpour. Hope your problem is similar.Re: Propane StoveWe purchased an oven two burner stove at Costco a couple years ago and had it in the garage still in the box. Took it out a couple of weeks ago and really had fun baking cookies and cinnamon rolls. I haven't seen this item for several years at Costco, but you can find it on Outdoorcooking.com. We purchased a new Weber 1200 because our Coleman grill only had one burner with a grill. This oven/burner combo is much quieter. It's big, but fits in our basement fine. Take a look. I know what you mean about the jet noise of the Coleman.Re: Eggs left in refrigratorA few years ago our trailer lost power during the Wallow fire for six weeks with a pound of ground beef in the freezer. After cleaning multiple times with similar combinations above, we left a whole box ov baking soda in the bottom of the freezer and it helped, but finally had a tip from a neighbor in an RV park and placed a whole pound of coffee in the freezer on the way home and it killed the smell permanently. Hope it helps.Re: AZ Highway 191 - Safford to AlpineIf you're not in a hurry, 10 to 35 mph North of the mine. After Hannigan's Meadow 50-55 mph. Worth doing once in a car, wouldn't tow my 5er now. We go over Mule Pass on Hwy 79, then on to Glenwood and on to Alpine. Also a pretty drive. A little quicker.Re: Changed out Entry Door Windows/FramesThey look great! Just got mine delivered for the 5er yesterday. Saturday afternoon project for me. Will match the rest of the windows and we'll be able to see who's at the door. Don't know why manufacturers haven't done this as standard for all door windows.Re: Datil Well NM to Tucson AZ routing suggestionsNM 180 South from Alpine very scenic and easy for you rig, downhill all the way. Mule Pass Hwy 78 a little white knuckle East to West, but 22' no problem. We pull 37' 5er and need exhaust brake at crest down to four way stop at 191 and 78 highways. Road to Safford great! I-10 from Willcox to Tucson can be pretty windy at times in the Spring. Picture Rocks is on NW side of Tucson. West side of Picture Rocks Rd can be tricky with many bicyclists training for spring races in early am. Everyone should do AZ 191 South from Alpine to Morenci once in their lifetime as is is very scenic, but the old "666" is slow (35mph) and I would never pull a trailer on it. Salt River canyon would not be on my bucket list to tow a trailer, but we know many who do without problems. NM 180 to Silver City no problem and a fun town to explore for a few days. Hope that helps. Have a great time!
