I think everyone in here agrees that if that is the trailer you desire, a one ton dually diesel is the bare minimum to tow it.Re: Opinions needed pleaseWe looked at the Grand Design and for the most part we liked it. The 40' model which is the 385 I believe. The main thing we didn't like about it was the bedroom and the bathroom. There is only one entrance to the bathroom and the bed was a slide out. That was a deal killer for me and the wife. But other than that it seemed to be a great looking unit. I believe the Grand Design was started up by the guys who started Keystone. The one thing we did like about it was the overhead storage on the galley slide. Not too many have those. I would take opinions from these forums and just put them in the bank, I wouldn't make a decision on what other people think. Because what is great for me my not be great for you. It is all going to be preference of layout and options. As far as quality goes if you search the web as I did for the last 15 months, you will see dis-satisfied customers for every RV builder. Take all those with a grain of salt as well. I am very confident that there are more satisfied customers then non-satisfied. You only really hear the bad and rarely hear the good. Good luck with your search, It was a fun adventure.Re: Opinions needed please paulcardoza wrote: We took delivery of our Cyclone 4100 2 weeks ago. So far, there have been only a few minor issues: Central Vac attachments and hose missing 2nd Set of Keys missing Some of the plumbing connections were not properly tightened, so we had some dripping water lines and drain pipes. I fixed those in 5 min myself. Weather stripping on the garage folding doors not well secured in place. Ran a small bead of sealant to fix. Other than that, all is well! Love the floorplan, the size and the quality. That's too funny, cuz we just took delivery of our 2014 Dutchman Voltage 3950 and our vacuum attachments and 2nd set of keys were missing as well. I think it is a common practice to rob peter to pay paul in the RV business. I haver heard of non attached items being taken out of one unit to fulfill another unit.Re: Newbie!!--we have a few questionsIf you're towing at a half ton truck limits, all I can say is have Patience. You'll forever be in the right lane trying to keep momentum going. Never fails when someone pulls in front and you have to get off the gas and tap the breaks. Then there is that uphill battle, not fun. I took the family on a 2 week trip to the black hills of south dakota and YellowStone. Most miserable driving experience I have ever had. Now for short little get-a-ways it was just fine. We would go about 60 miles to a lake and the truck did just fine. Just remember just because when you step on the gas and your truck moves forward with your trailer, is not an indication of whether you have a safe pull. I have said this many times before, it's more about the stopping then the hauling. I know we all want to get as much out of a trailer as our truck will handle, but I will never be put in the position again.Re: Upgrade to a Voltage? My wife and I looked at both Fuzion and Voltage. Work with a guy who pulls a 40' Fuzion and has had no major issues, just minor warrenty work. IMO they both are very similar as far as quality goes, they both are on the same priceline. Since Thor industries own both Keystone and Dutchman I don't think you are going to find a whole lot of difference in workmanship. I have read where people hated their Fuzion because of poor quality, I have equally found the same for the Voltages. I haven't done this but I am pretty sure you will find that on any trailer and RV. But how many times have you read someone starting a thread "My TH is awesome!!!!" the mojority of people will start a thread by stating their disapointment, not their satisfaction. The only time you really see someone stating there satisfaction is when someone is complaining about their RV and someone will chime in stating they are happy with their purchase. All in all its going to come down to personal perference and you will be amazed that it will be something small to sway you to one model or another. Ours came down to the bedroom, we wanted the north/south bed, two access to main bathroom. Both voltages and Fuzion had everything we wanted, what really swayed us was that most of the Fuzion models have this offset North/South bed where it wasn't centered in the room. The Voltage is centered and has equal walk around room. We opted for the 2014 Voltage 3950 and so far we are pleased.Re: And I thought this would be easy!Just don't forget, it's not all about whether the truck will handle the tow, but just as important and IMO more important, how well will it stop. Breaks are an important factor in towing capacity.Re: trailer vers 5th wheelI have pulled both and prefer the 5th wheel. Yes you can get a pretty good towing ride with a TT but mine was due to having equalizer + sway control. The clearence of a trailer has nothing or very little to due when being pulled down the highway when talking "control". 5th wheel trailers tend to pull easier and it has a more natural feel to it. Manuvering is easier as well. But i think the question that you need to answer is less of how it is to pull and more of what you need in a trailer. So my suggestion is get to the RV dealership and walk through both that are in your price range. Think about what you will be using it for. A lot of trailers can look amazing inside because they put a lot of attention in cosmetics. Really take a look at the functionality of it. Such as counter space and cabinents (Storage).Re: Kids in the toyhauler? Not to mention a lot of the toyhaulers have the crucial 2nd bath. That was a deal breaker for us when we were looking for toy haulers, the 2nd bath was a must, especially with kids.Re: Toy Hauler or travel trailer? We had a 30' TT for four years. We intentionally bought used because this was our first "non-tent" camping experience. We figured we would find out what we liked, what we didn't like. Although the TT was light it is a time consuming activity hitching and un-hitching especially if you have the equalizer and sway control. Leveling was always a pain. It would take me about 30 minutes once I pulled in the campsite to where I was downing a beer. It was a nice experience to have the TT and it served the purpose of what it was intended. We quickly realized we needed ROOM. We usually take my two boys with us and occasionally our two grandkids. I do have a motorcycle that we would be missing on our trips so obviously we turned to a TH and started the research (as well as conventional 5ers.) It didn't take long after searching and actually getting inside them for us to conclude that the TH was for us. We just picked up ours last week. It is going to take a little getting used to going from a TT to a very large 5th wheel but so far I think it is just the ticket. But like others say in the post, it is all personal preference. What is just right for me may not be just right for the next. the other factor you need to think about is how much time you plan to spend in the trailer and actually use it, how much are you willing to spend. Haven't shoped for TH in the bumper pull catagory but in the 5th wheel catagory there are much pricier. We ended up with a 2014 Voltage 3950
