Really nice people running the place too.Re: Shout out for this Campground in SDUma & Papa Reading your post made me smile. We stayed overnight at Camp America way back in 2002 and enjoyed it very much. Still remember how friendly they were, even greeted us by name when we arrived. Glad to know they're still in business. Have a great trip to Alaska!Re: My Lodge cast iron pan is a DISASTER. Help....I'm late to this thread but wanted to make note that The Lodge company has a detailed section on their website about how to care for cast iron pots & pans (including how to remove rust). FYI :)Re: Will 20 mos. old be to young for Yellowstone? Our daughter was that exact age when we went. We did a Yellowstone/Grand Teton/Black Hills loop. We allowed a little time to acclimate to the elevation. Drank plenty of fluids. Wore lots of sunscreen. This was all of us not just her. She did fine, had fun, and the memory of that trip is a fond one. We were sure to make time for downtime and time to run around and play. Looking at the world thru their eyes, it was a unique experience and one I am thankful we were able to have. I saw someone mention no medical services. There is a complete medical clinic at Old Faithful. I know because it was me that needed it (tonsillitis). Where ever you go as a family you will have that precious family time. Go and have a great trip.Re: Pink stuff vs Air pressure - The Verdict gbopp wrote: I started using air for the lines and antifreeze for the traps a few years ago. Our Pennsylvania winters have not caused any problems. It works for me! Same for us only our Minnesota winters put it to even more of a test. I like this method so much better than drawing the pink stuff thru all the lines. It seemed to take forever to get that pink stuff smell out of the lines every spring. Now there's no smell and no worries :)Re: Camping BuddiesI don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, have you thought of trying a seasonal site? You'd be in the same cg with the same people all season and it would be much easier to get to know them and make friends. Many CG's have regular events like potlucks, etc. to make getting to know others easier. Just a thought, I realize seasonal sites aren't everyone's cup of tea.Re: bunk end linoleum replacement?Ours is like yours, similar to a wallpaper or contact paper. We have an Aerolite Cub.Re: bunk end linoleum replacement? We had this same issue last summer and the only fix for us was to have the bunk end door replaced. It was water damage at the hinge that seeped up into the "plywood" of the door. No way to truly dry it out for us. I hope you were able to completely dry it out, otherwise you may need to eventually replace the bunk door. The dealer told me the doors are put together like a sandwich with these different layers at the factory. I don't know if you can buy just this layer alone. The only thing I can think of to replace your strip is some contact paper (the self adhesive shelf lining stuff). Hope that helps... I'm not as technically inclined like some of the folks here :)Re: mT Rushmore RV park recommendation?Have stayed at Beaver Lake CG in Custer and would recommend it highly. Have also stayed at a little CG/cabin property called The Roost Resort in Custer (between the town of Custer and Custer State Park). Very small campground but super quiet, spaced out nicely, and very pretty surroundings. The owners/hosts are really nice people. Have driven thru Rafter J Bar and it is a beautiful, very large campground resort. Only problem is, they're way more expensive than other cg's in the area. I've never been able to talk myself into spending the extra money to stay there. The Mt. Rushmore KOA (Palmer Gulch) is a large family-oriented resort with little shade and a lot of activities. Have been there many times to ride the horses but have never camped there. Too busy for our tastes. The campgrounds in Custer State Park are beautiful but not all of them have dump stations. Also depending on where you stay in the park, you would be adding a lot of drive time to your day, with the very curvy roads and wildlife hazards.Re: Where's a few good sites to place a camper for sale?We had the best luck using our local paper's classifieds. I think it's best to start locally, IMO you'll have a better chance of an actual serious buyer vs. someone who is looking to scam you and/or waste your time.
