Each time you purchase a different 5er you won't need to get another $ 150.00 capture plate. The Demco will be my next slider unit. I second super slide. I have one and like the fact of no capture plate. That way if someone needs to pull it with a regular fifth wheel they can. It works great also.Re: TV Mileage Veebyes wrote: Funny how whenever it swings to a SRW vs DRW topic the comments are always almost the same. Those who have SRW, often beefed up with airbags & such, & have never tried a DRW, swear that the SRW is just fine for a 32' plus, 12,000# plus trailer. Meanwhile those who had a SRW then switched to a DRW swear there is a night & day difference without any mods needing to be done to the DRW. Those of us DRW owners who have never had a SRW only know what we see if we happen to be behind a SRW on a windy day or curvy road. It can be a scary sight. I have nearly 2 million miles hauling loads you can only imagine. I made a living with a dualie and 32 ft dual wheel trailer for four years. Again, capability is a huge part of any rig. Oh, and the 2 million miles were accident free. Not even a cargo claim.Re: TV MileageThe only difference between an F250 and a F350 is a two inch spacer block, a helper spring, and recommended air pressure. Drive train brakes etc. are the same. Air pressure should be pumped up to max on the tire sidewall. SRW will do fine. If you are full timing then dualie should be seriously considered. If just weekend/vacation the disadvantages of a dualie might not out way the advantages. I have a F250 that I pull a 38 ft Montana with. SRW. I added air bags and a rear stabilizer bar. Good shocks are a must also. I use Blistein. Tires are goodyear wranglers run at 80 psi. The main thing is do not over drive your capabilities. I do think if you go with a dualie an air king pin is a must to absorb the extra shock so the helper spring.Re: Wheel/Brake/Bearing QuestionIf u used a whole tube of grease on one wheel the seal is leaking inside onto the brakes. Bearings need to be adjusted periodically. Doesn't mean they are worn out. Should pull , clean, and inspect every so often also.Re: Camping, Nashville, TNThanks for all the responses. HahaCamping, Nashville, TNWe are planning a trip to Nashville in Jan. Anyone have a suggestion on a nice camp ground? We like a large space. 38' fifth wheel. Thanks in advance.Re: Portable Air Compressor question grampaBubby wrote: DHCamper wrote: Escargot wrote: smkettner wrote: put "MV-50" into amazon for a good 12v compressor. X2 X3 - does the job very well I just don't understand why you would look to buy an 12 volt air compressor from anywhere like that. It's just a huge collage of everyones little brother who couldn't make their own website successful. We have a family member who works with the online stuff and has explained much of it to me. Not that I've retained it all but some stuff I do. I'm also on board with walmart not selling guns and ammo. I've always purchased my car from a car dealer, my spark plugs at my local Napa and my camping and motorhome supplies from a qualified dealer. Not sure how this is helpful. Especially the part about Wal Mart selling guns.Re: Maybe overweight??? Gross weight with the 2500hd 22400 lbs. I'm now working on a 1987 Ford F800 to tow it with down the road if it works out. And it will be grossing around 30,000 lbs with the same camper. 7460 steering axle 6280 Drive axle With camper gross is 29740. Sad part is don't think the big truck is going to tow it any better. May look like a balanced rig but not sure its any safer and better. Also used to drive over the road and ran triaxle dump trucks for years. Now those are fun, 74,000 lbs gross on the back of a truck. No trailer just a 16ft bed sitting on the tandems and hauler butt. Not everyone has never driven a load before. I think some that never even ran around in a pickup before. Just there car is the ones that think you have to have a truck that is rated for 5000 lbs more then your load or your going to kill the world. Pete Pete we are on the same page. Haha
