Thanks for the great info. Did the route today and it was just fine, no issues at all. 6% grade for 6 miles was the longest descent and it was big sweeping curves and plenty of room. Curious as to how the interstate route will be dragging a 28’ trailer from Missoula to Billings. Dragged it from Billings up to east side of Glacier, then across rte 2 to West Glacier, but need to make some better time heading back. Map doesn't look too bad for altitude and grades. The trip up 85 was fantastic! Very windy, but manageable and excellent roads. Beautiful scenery and easy driving. Thanks to all who responded with very helpful information! Thanks, this is gold! Great info on fuel which is something I was concerned about. Looking forward to heading that way soon. It is, however, very lonely and open drive, with no cell service to speak of except in the very few actual towns. Lots of ranch/grazing land along the route, coming out of Cheyenne to Torrington, and on up through Lusk to Newcastle. Fuel in Torrington and Lingle, fuel in Lusk, and fuel in Edgemont (if you go east) or Newcastle if you continue north. Lingle up to Newcastle is generally flat/rolling countryside like from Cheyenne to Torrington; if you take US 18 to Edgemont, there's a goodly climb from the intersection with US 85 heading east, up to Edgemont.
