Boneheaded jacking mistakeSo I screwed up pretty good and jacked my trailer mistakenly by the axel mounting plate and bent it pretty good right in front of the rear wheel bolt, the welds appear to still be good and don’t see any other obvious damage. I have a big trip coming up very soon and hoping it’s still good to pull Re: TOYOTA TUNDRA - who's towing a camper with a Tundra?I had 2008 Tundra crewmax with the 5.7 , it was a great truck, no issues , pulled fine, however it’s weak spot was the 1600lb payload. I pulled a 7500 lb trailer ( about 900lbs on the tounge) , once we loaded up the family and the typical camping stuff we would reach or exceed the payload limit. I have upgraded to a ram 2500 with the 6.4 hemi and now have almost double the payload( 3000lbs) and can confidently load up as much **** as I want and not have to constantly worry about being overweight.Re: Ram 6.4 or GM 6.0?I have the 6.4 Ram with the 3:73 gears, I have no complaints at all. It rides very nice for a 3/4 ton truck, does what I need it to do.Re: Anti freeze into fresh water tankI do it this way all the time, been doing it for 15 years and never had an issue. I use about 8 gallons total , it's not that pricey usually someone always has a 2 for $5 sale on rv antifreeze in the fall. In the spring I do a through rinse with a diluted bleach mixture, this will kill anything that may have been growing in the lines and gets rid of the antifreeze taste, it takes a few tanks of water through the lines to get rid of the bleach smell. It's is recommended to do this bleach rinse to get rid of any organism that may grow in the water lines anyway so by doing this you are sanitizing your lines and getting rid of any antifreeze taste at the same time. Maybe not the best or most efficient way but it works for me and it has been effective.Re: Towing 6-7000# Trailer with Toyota TundraI had an 08 Tundra sr5 crew cab with the 5.7 and towed a 7500lb trailer. It did great with the weight and pulled fine, like everyone has said the payload was the Tundra's achilies heel, with the family and all the normal camping stuff we were over payload otherwise it was a great truck and I enjoyed it, wish they would make a heavy duty payload pkg for it. My Ram 2500 has twice the payload and it is nice not to have to worry about it anymore but I do miss the Tundra.Re: Opinions on great Michigan Campgrounds For Young ChildrenI live in nw OH , I agree with many of these, we like Frankenmuth in the early and late season the Jellystone there is great but they have some of the tightest sites I have ever seen, the Jellystone in Fremont In was one of our favorites when our kids were young but it gets crazy busy there with kids everywhere and they keep raising the price, we now prefer Pokagon state park in Angola, it has a nice beach and paved trails and a nice lodge/inn on site. The cedar point campground is wonderful , the only way to do cedar point , you get into the park an hour earlier than the general public and get discounted tickets and you can walk back to the camper and just take break from standing in line all day and enjoy lunch or dinner at your camper, it is very pricey though. A couple more to consider that I have not heard yet are Sauder village in Archbold Oh, great campground recently expanded, it has nice full hook up sites, a new splash pad and acess to the indoor pool at the lodge, it is also connected to the historic village that is definitely worthy of a visit. Also Maumee bay state park in Oregon Oh, lots to do there and is really close to Toledo , I would reccomend the Toledo zoo . harbortown in Monroe has nice sites and lots for kids to do, lots of choices within a reasonable drive of your area.Re: Fridge Off While Gassing upNever have, probably never will.Re: 6.4 Hemi w/3.73It tows fine. I have had this truck since May and tow a 7500lb tt, avg between 8-11 mpg towing and up to about 14-16 mt, I have 7500 miles on the truck with 3800 miles of towing( I love that it keeps track of the towing miles on the evic screen). It does like to rev on the the hills but I believe that is what it was designed to do and it still maintains speed ok , also for a 3/4 ton truck it rides fairly civilized empty for daily driving, I also always use 87 octane and have no issues, overall I am pretty satisfied so far, I think it's great alternative for those that do not need or want a diesel.Re: 2 1/2" to 2" adaptersLike a dummy I forgot about the adapter in the receiver and of course lost it, it was a real pain to find one the road, had to go to multiple auto stores and finally found an adapter that said the the same thing you mention of not to use with weight dist hitches, i had to make due with it until I got home and it seemed to work, I ordred a factory replacement on eBay for $34.95 it has the lip on the end and lines up the hitch pin holes, I think the other adapters like the one I bought in a pinch are meant to be used with accessories like bike racks and others that utilize the hitch receiver, the factory one seems more substantial.Re: Cracks already?This.. http://www.captaintolley.com
