We live in North Carolina looking at going to Virginia SML, or across the USA (mountains, flat land etc... My truck is a 2018 Ford F-150 4x4 3.5 liter V6 twin turbo specs say it can pull 13,200 lbs idk? Preferably a towable camper and wondering how much weight on a camper I should be pulling dry weight, gross weight etc...? Also, do I need to have an electric brake system installed in my truck for the camper? And lastly, at what weight or length should I get an external transmission cooler installed? Thanks, Blake I would look at your specific trucks specs again as I have a 18 as well and to get that 13200 tow rating you must have max tow package you must have 20 inch wheels you must have the 3.5 eco and the truck must be a 4X2 to get the 13200lb tow rating My truck has a 13000 lb tow rating as well as a 1300lb hitch tongue weight rating as I have all the above stated but mine is a 4X4. If you had max tow to get that 13.2k tow rating the truck would have the IBC installed from factory and the pro trailer back assist. The HDPP option actually hurts the tow rating and it is lower than 13k I bet your tow rating is in the ball park of 9600lbs deepening on the conf of the truck All that being said with a 13k tow rated truck I am just under my trucks GVWR when loaded to camp with my wife daughter and 2 dogs in the cab and a 7200lb GVWR trailer behind it. It tows its perfectly well but I could NOT tow anything heavier with my truck and with my family. I would need to step up to a 3/4 ton at that point. So my trucks 13k tow rating is absolutely useless to me.Re: Discoverer AT3 XLT Grit dog wrote: librty02 wrote: The Cooper AT3 XLTs are great tires I have over 40k towing on my set now and still have 7/32 left...I will purchase again for sure I just hope now that Goodyear owns Cooper they don't change that tire at least not for a while anyway. Have/well had Michelin Defendefers on my Jeep Grand Cherokee overland supposed to be the best rated tire out there well let me tell ya great tire in the snow and rain yes but was very loud always had a hum to them and for a 70k tire it only lasted 19k and all 4 worn even down to 1/32nd...needless to say just replaced them with the new Pirelli AS+3 I hope they last a little longer than 19k While I, not being particularly brand loyal when it comes to tires and at the same time having a general distaste for Michelins, can believe you weren’t satisfied with the Miches, I cannot even begin to believe you claim of basically 75% reduced tire life… I purchased them at Sam's Club Oct of 19 my wife typically does about 10k a year on avg so they Michelin's lasted a whole 20 months...Sams had done the rotations etc as that is free with purchase from them as well...went back to Sam's to claim warranty and Michelin wanted to give me $500 towards a new set....well at $1300 a set now I would have still owed $800 for a set of tires I knew would not last more than 19k miles I politely declined and purchased the new Perellis for 804 out the door. Like I said we will see how long these last.Re: Do I need a better converter? You did not state what type of batteries you got are they FLA or LifePO4?Re: Discoverer AT3 XLTThe Cooper AT3 XLTs are great tires I have over 40k towing on my set now and still have 7/32 left...I will purchase again for sure I just hope now that Goodyear owns Cooper they don't change that tire at least not for a while anyway. Use it to tow our rig all over handles anywhere we take it and with ease..The 18 is also my current daily as well..gets 18mpg city as a daily and 9mpg avg when towing as well...and we don't tow on flats its mostly all through the blue ridge mountains of WV VA NC...been to Fl from Pa and back many many many times...love the trucks and that engine and the 10 speed tranny is flawless. When I step up to a larger rig I'll be looking at the 350 with the 7.3 and 3.73 axle for the next tow vehicle. The 18 did have the cam phasers replaced at 18k and has been perfect since apparently there are new updated parts they are using now it was a 4 hour fix at my local dealer done by noon that day. No other issues at all other than it makes me smile :) :) especially when I have the rig hooked up to the back of it....Re: Ford has released their 2021 towing guideWhat does this mean?!?! In the tow guide right under the 150s ratings... Maximum payload and towing capabilities are for properly equipped vehicles with required equipment and a 150-lb. driver and passengerand vary based on cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories, option content and number of passengers. See label on door jamb for carrying capacity of a specific vehicle. Horsepower, torque, payload and towing are independent attributes and may not be achieved simultaneously. For additional information, see your Ford Dealer. Does this mean 300lbs is kept off that tire and payload rating sticker for 2021?!?!Re: Honda 2200i or Honda 2200i Companion?I'd not get the companion right now as the regular 2200 is $100 off at the moment everywhere for the next few days....so save that $100 now and the companion is giving you nothing more than the other now as you will need an adapter for 30a or 50a....as mentioned above the companion is not a straight shore cord plug and play a 30amp twist lock adapter is still needed.Re: Trailer legsSeen and read many comments on this or a similar product years ago...95% of the comments were that it is almost impossible to get all 4 or 6 of them in a perfect position to raise the trailer. Secondly a good chance of bending an axle if one flips out on you or slides. Third they are plastic and how strong are they really? So many posts lately about anderson levelers and their type breaking in half used on 10k rigs when rated for 30k....Seems the marketing of them is to save your tires from premature rot....well tires are alot cheaper and easier to deal with than a bent axle or two...Re: Wanting to upgrade truck tires. Oh and made in the USA Wow where did you get that price? That's a great price. How did those affect you mpg? They look like they are about 10 pounds heavier each than my current ones. I really like those but seems like overkill for my little half ton haha. But they may help with the towing feel with my TT connected. My local pennziol tire and lube..they always have the best price around here I paid 828 installed as I have the receipt right here in front of me as I just uploaded it for the $60 rebate from CooperRe: Wanting to upgrade truck tires.
