Propane is cheap (get it filled for no charge through my work) but the thing is is that it takes quite a while for the fridge to cool off enough to throw in the groceries, ice, beer, etc. This way, we can also leave a few more things in the fridge while we are away rather than packing everything up. Being able to pull up to our site, throw the food in the nice cold fridge, grab a cold beer...just one less thing to mess with especially with 3 kids running around too. Guess I should mention our site does not have electricity...or I would, of course, just run on power. Forgot to mention that I am also considering 2 other options: adding another 12V battery (only downside is the extra weight as my trailer is heavy as it is) or switching over to dual 6v batteries (my father-in-law picked up 2 like new 6v batteries for $80 for the pair). Are there any downsides (beside extra weight) of switching to dual 6v batteries?Solar Panel to keep battery charged while away...Our travel trailer is parked at a seasonal site over the summer and I am looking at picking up a solar panel to keep the battery topped up while we are away through the week. All that will be on while we are away is the fridge (running on propane) and the CO2/smoke detector. All I am after is a basic solar kit that will keep the battery up so we can keep the fridge up and running. Found a 55W solar kit from Costco for $250...will this suffice??? Tried searching but everything is a bit over-the-top for what I think I need. I have my Honda 3000W generator for when we are there, so I do not need anything fancy. Any input would be appreciated.Re: GeneratorsWhy not a single, larger generator? I picked up a Honda EU3000ic...runs everything and it's light enough I can carry it around myself (or, more importantly, by wife and 9 year old when I am not around).Re: Hail damage repaired...what will I find next???!!! thomasmnile wrote: AJB: Pretty sure it wasn't but please tell me you didn't take that pic today..........you know, all that white stuff in the pic! :B Hahaha...no lol. Although we did have snow on the ground till the end of April this year. I have talked to them numerous times and yes, I am being very professional about it (I own my own business and was in retail more than 10 years). It is just getting extremely frustrating. Thanks goodness I have an aunt that sells insurance and the very first thing she told me when I decided to repair the damage, was to NEVER, EVER sign anything. Tomorrow I will be contacting my insurance adjuster as well as making a call to Jayco CS. I should mention that the caulking has been cleaned up somewhat last week when I first dropped off the trailer for them to look at in person and also fix the main entrance door (forgot to mention that, too) that had a 1/8" - 1/4" gap around the entire door. See what happens tomorrow.Re: Hail damage repaired...what will I find next???!!!Here is a pic of my trailer and you be the judge... It's more of a dull grey rather than a silver. I will also be contacting Jayco direct and see what they have to say about this, too.Re: Hail damage repaired...what will I find next???!!!No I haven't talked to my insurance company yet. I was just hoping the dealership would take care of everything which I am finding out is easier said than done for some reason. I just hate the idea of them opening up my trailer, yet again, to replace the front and I have no clue how they are going to fix the rain gutter. The kicker is they also said that none of this would affect my resale value...ok...I was not born yesterday lol! I will be calling my insurance company and see what kind of response I get.Re: Hail damage repaired...what will I find next???!!!I totally agree. That was my first MAJOR concern...that the work would not be up to the same standards as it was from the factory. I was assured it would be so that is why I went ahead with the insurance claim and had the damage repaired. I now find out the front sheet metal was ordered not from the factory in the USA, but from a different manufacturer here in Canada (cost too much to get it direct from Jayco, I was told). It's insurance...account for the extra cost of getting the correct sheet metal from Jayco and do it right the first time. I am now stressing big time about the remaining shotty work, so to speak.Hail damage repaired...what will I find next???!!!Long story short, bought a 2013 Jayco Jay Flight 32BHDS last spring. Love the trailer for my family of 5. Over the summer had one particularly nasty hail storm (thank goodness for MaxxAir covers, though) and had approximately $12,000 in damage done (rear, entry side and top of the front). Being that it is practically still brand new, decided to have the dealership fix the damage over the winter. Fast forward to this spring. On our way to grab some things from our trailer that is parked at a friend's acreage, the wife notices while driving up to it, that the sheet metal on the front is a different color (the 2013s have a silver grey front and rear). Now, because only the top front sheet metal had hail damage, they only replaced the top front that is a totally different shade/color of grey. Second thing...looks like a 5 year did the caulking job, third...the rain gutters are low in the middle and high on the ends, forth...the rear bathroom entrance door is scratched right down to bare metal on the very top. After more than a few trips to the dealer, as well as phone calls, the response is "we are human" and "we are doing our best". Sorry as this is a bit of a rant but just had to share my wonderful experience so far lol.
