GM went to the effort of updating it recently, had they planned to kill it, it would have made sense to kill it prior to spending the money to update it. The '24 Duramax hp/torque rating is probably understated like the '20 Powerstroke was. Yes it might be, I don't recall the numbers, but the parasitic loss through the drivetrain seemed really low to me, suggesting that it's making more power than advertised or they have figured out how to lessen the loss running through the drivetrain.Re: I'm curious to know what you would do?Gale Banks has an interesting You Tube video on the '24 Duramax. The '23 your about to get will be in a couple months or since the '24's are already out, it already is, a year old (depends on if your going by calender year). You lose one year's deprecation for a couple months worth of use. I personally try never to get a new vehicle within the last six months of the current model year. Since you trade as often as you do, it would seem to be even more important. I ordered a '24 that is supposedly being built (I do have a VIN number now I guess), assuming it comes in December, I will get a full year's use before I depreciate due to model year. They should give you a print out of all the work that has been done to it. I just ordered a '24 CC 3500 Dmax LTZ and it was 82K. I think it goes to show how important crew cab is on resale. Not everyone needs a crew cab but resale alone can justify one.
