The bed does not support the hitch at all. The hitch is lightweight and easy to install and take out. Hooking up is a breeze.Re: Homeless migration to RVs creating problems CA Traveler wrote: Watch the uTube video Seattle is Dying for a larger perspective of the problem which includes RVs. Thanks for posting this. I just watched it and now think we should try the Rhode Island approach, enforcement and intervention, in some of the larger cities. good documentaryRe: Homeless migration to RVs creating problemsNear us, there was a huge homeless encampment of 700 people in a 3 mile stretch. Only 11% of those people said they wanted help. 58% were drug users, and the rest were mentally ill. Most didn't want shelters because of the rules: wake up, eat, go to bed, all at specific times. And of course, no drugs. I live in Southern California, so I know how expensive big cities can be. I don't think we should be building shelters in places where real estate costs so much. Maybe we should build a tent city in the desert and provide free food, water, porta-potties, showers, and even drugs. Bus the people there that don't want to do anything except get high. Has to be cheaper than building new shelters, or even cleaning up encampments. BTW, Los Angeles spent $36,000,000 this year just cleaning up places only to have the homeless move back within an hour. Comments?Re: Trailer dolly: trailervalet, parkit360, etcI have a power caster 3 that worked great on my 7000 lb travel trailer. Our driveway has a slight uphill at the street; no problem. But be sure to hook up the brakes; the trailer will pull the PC3 without them.Re: question on cable pull tank valve drainsSince I needed a new 'Y' connector on my (after my electric valve replacement), I bought the Valterra Y with manual valves already bolted together as 1 piece. Best of both worlds... electric valves way up underneath, and manual valves right at the hose connector.Re: question on cable pull tank valve drainsMy new trailer had cable pulls, which I did not like due to not quite closing all the way, so.... I just got done replacing them all with the electric valves from Valterra. Also had to upgrade the 1.5" galley drain pipe to 3" as there aren't any 1.5 electric valves. Terrible job, but done now.Re: Should I buy a hybrid RV/boat or just tow a boat westernrvparkowner wrote: When we were young, we allowed one and it came in complete with horses. We don't have equine facilities and we got an earful of how if we allow horse trailers then should have pastures. OK, lesson learned, ask about horses. Very next horse trailer we asked, told no problem, no horses. Trouble was, trailer was full of horse deposits that stank to high heaven which was only appreciated by the 1,000,000 flies that traveled with them. "Neigh"bors (pun intended) quickly complained to both the trailer owner and then the office. Unfortunately, they complained to the owners before the office, so the owners took it upon themselves to clean said trailer by washing the horse apples, horse hair, and horse bedding straw out of the trailer and onto the site lawn. At this time I realized I had violated one of my core operating values: never get bitten by the same dog twice. So now, no horse trailers, ever. I've always thought -- You own the park, you make the rules. If you don't like the rules, go to a different park. Thank you for the story on horse trailers. I think it's really interesting on how some rules came to be, because without the story, I'd wonder what's the deal with banning horse trailers. Now I know.Re: First trip with Andersen Ultimate HitchI've got the Pullrite Superlite hitch (basically, an upside-down Andersen where the ball is on the trailer and the cup in in the truck bed). I wrote to Pullrite asking if safety chains were needed, and their response was that it was still considered a fifth wheel hitch and did not need them. SteveRe: how long do you keepWe had our old trailer for 14 years, loved the floor plan and it was in great shape. We both retired and started taking longer trips, and found out that trips longer than 2 weeks started to get cramped. We upgraded to a larger 5th wheel. For example, we had our dog fixed even though everything was working fine. Did you splice his wire nuts?
