Before going too far, take a close look at the plate on your entry door. It turns out mine (2006 Fleetwood Flair) was made by a company purchased by Attwood (Creation Door). Fleetwood no longer carries the correct hinge for these doors, but Attwood does. Attwood part # 5027052150. It will keep you from drilling new holes or re-engineering the one now carried by Fleetwood. $15 each.Re: Fleetwood entry door new hinge replacement with picsGreat write-up. Thanks for taking the time to do the step by step. I wouldn't have known about the backing plates either. I have the same problem with a 2006 Fleetwood Flair. The current problem is with the bottom hinge, but I am guessing it is only a matter of time until the others fail. The price for 3 hinges sort of shocked me...$438? but I am assuming no one has found a better solution? Re: Roll Call Alaska 2014If you are in Dawson on your trip, take the Robert Service Hike provided by Parks Canada if you have the chance, especially if you can get Andrew. He does a fantastic job...really enjoyed the experience!Re: Roll Call Alaska 2014We came across the Top of the World Highway on Monday going west from Dawson to Chicken. Great Trip!! It was a beautiful sunny day and it seemed you could see forever. The trip on the ferry was a breeze, although there was about a 2 hour wait because of the number of RVs. The TOW to the border was in relatively good shape. From the border to the Eagle junction the road is being paved. Those going east have a beautiful new hard surface to ride on. The Taylor highway from there is pretty sketchy: narrow and dirt/rock, but a fun adventure. The road from Chicken into Tok is ok with some breaks, but mostly paved. A great adventure and I highly recommend it!Re: Roll Call Alaska 2014 ejfranz wrote: suedonlem wrote: Has anyone been on the Top of the Highway last few days? We are thinking of going home thru there but getting a lot of mixed information. Some say ok and others say don't chance it. Did it today! A larger motor home went over the edge either today or yesterday just 4 or 5 miles out of side of Chicken headed to Dawson. I had no issues in my rig, but the large rigs were crawling, one guy I met just on the USA side of the border said it took him 2.5 hours from Chicken and it was hell. We did it in an hour 20. There are some rough section! I am in Dawson, planning to go on the TOW in a few days. I have been talking to people who have come across it from AK. They all say it is ok, just be cautious. Also, if you need gasoline in Dawson, the AFD cardlock has it for 1.48. US credit cards work.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2014 sue.t wrote: The Taylor Hwy (Alaska) - Top of the World Hwy (Yukon) seems to generate some amazing stories of woe each year. Usually exaggerated during the story telling, and then expanded with the next story telling. We enjoy this drive immensely, preferring the Top of the World portion (Yukon) as it crosses higher elevations. The Taylor Highway (Alaska) crosses more lowland and suffers more from water damage. Drove through during major re-construction on the Alaska side in the 1993 and also in 2010 the week it re-opened after a month of being closed due to washouts. So we've seen it good & bad. We've towed our 25' fifth wheel through numerous times and also our truck/camper. We usually take 2-3 days to make the drive, because we enjoy camping & sightseeing along the way. We've never felt the road was dangerous, although try to avoid taking the route when it is raining. It must be driven at a speed suited for the conditions, regardless. In 1993 we were in a small 4x4 and it took us about 5 hours to drive the 65 miles from Chicken to the Alaska Hwy. Mud in the north can be slick, making even a 4x4 ineffective. There is much gravel, dirt, steep ditches and soft shoulders -- conditions that some aren't comfy driving their RVs over. Many images of the Taylor Highway from various years here http://yukonsights.ca/TaylorHwy.html And images from the Top of the World Hwy here http://yukonsights.ca/TopOfTheWorld.html The 2010 drive on the Taylor Hwy (Alaska side) with many pictures of the construction and our following a pilot car for 17 miles through that construction is here. http://yukonsights.ca/20100910_TaylorHwy.html This was the worst bit, following a pilot car In 2011 we saw this And we pulled to the far right when we saw this coming Thanks Sue...you are always such a great source of reliable info. Do you think it would be better to put the TOW on the end of our trip (late July early Aug) rather than now? Seems we could do it either way with out substantially altering plans.Re: Roll Call Alaska 2014 ss573 wrote: thomasw wrote: Must be a lot of your fellow Mississippians headed north. I passed two Class A's from Mississippi stopped at a turnout on Alberta 40 just south of Grande Cache. Hi....that might have been us. We are traveling with friends. A caravan of two. :) ... We must be on about the same path...we spent last night in Grande Prairie (Country Roads) and the next two nights in Dawson Creek. 40 was a hoot...gave my 34 gasser a real workout both up and down. It was a pretty drive but difficult for me to enjoy with all the construction trucks whizzing by. I know that is good for the local community though!Re: Roll Call Alaska 2014 daily double wrote: ? Talked to some people who went over the top of the world road Wed 25th and they said it was nothing but mud and too dangerous to think about. They said they saw a MH that slid off the road. Bummer!! I was so looking forward to the TOW section. So the only choice if you want to visit Dawson is to go back the same way you came? Would it be better to make that trip in reverse on the way home and hope it is more dry in a month or so?Re: Roll Call Alaska 2014 ss573 wrote: We made it to Denali RV park and read the previous posts about flooding inside the NP. We're two for two!! Glacier was closed when we got there :( Maybe we can still get a little way into Denali. If not....Anchorage!!!
