Also, the 20amp controller would give me room to add an additional 140w panel. Though, as I said, I'm not having issues yet... I just hate not knowing. It's all about the numbers! I'll watch for the other review. Thanks again!Re: Eco-worthy 20a MPPT controllerHey JiminDenver. Any updates with this 20amp MPPT controller? I've got a single 140w panel with a 10a PWN Morning star controller. I'm thinking I'd like the benefits of a controller with an LCD panel (current battery voltage etc) and getting MPPT would be a bonus. Happy with it? Still going strong? I'm running two 6v batteries and last season with our current solar setup I didn't have any issues. All of our lights are converted to LED. I consider ourselves minimal users at this point as once the kids are in bed (9:00ish), we aren't really in the trailer using power for lights and such. We don't have a TV, just the basics in our trailer. Thanks!Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread Hybridhunter wrote: MrRchitty wrote: Hybridhunter wrote: I also tried starting my Dometic Brisk Air 13.5KBTU, not a chance. I will try again with a hard start capcitor. It will not start your AC unit. It has been tried a few times on this forum. I tried a while back with the blower relay pulled so as to only have the compressor start alone. Under the white cover on the roof will be the specs for just the compressor, mine requires (from memory) 4200 watts to start it. It's not going to work. You will need the 2 in parallel. Besides, I just pulled my hard start out last weekend. It failed. It was causing the breaker to pop after about two minutes. With a clamp meter it measured 30 amps. 10 amps after pulling it. Again, the little Champ is not going to start the 13500 AC unit. The professor has kindly pointed out pages in the manual of the ratings. Please, keep us updated on the converter issue. Good luck. If you were somehow drawing 30 amps to your AC with the cap on it, it was connected wrong, or it was the wrong cap. Or the cap was screwed up, so saying it won't do it after that type of scenario is inconclusive. Which cap did you use, and who else had tried to start their AC with the 2000i? I've looked for posts, and can't find any. I know with the Honda 2000, at my elevation, (around 1000'ASL) it will start a properly set up Brisk Air 13.5K My attempt with my A/C Unit. http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/24022161/gotomsg/24936220.cfm#24936220 RyanRe: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator ThreadHey! Picked up my Champion 2000i last week from Costco. Today it was warm enough (17C) that the compressor would kick in on the A/C on shore power. So I fired up the Champion and like we all have been guessing, it overloaded right way. I've got the cap mod on my 13,5 A/C unit but no joy. I did have it running on a Honda 2000i last fall, day was about 24C. I will test it again as I've read that after the compressor kicks in, it's actually harder to restart it on a stop start situation like I did. I still suspect it won't work but I'll try anyways!! Trailer is a 1998 Fleetwood Wilderness 5th with a Coleman A/C unit (of the same year I assume). RyanRe: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread Old & Slow wrote: Well I'll de' clare. I hope this thread is not an advertising tool streight from Champion. In looking through some of the affinity group mags, don't find one Champion ad.:? There have been many questionable posts, even by the Owner/CEO of Champion (CPE) US, here. Now we have the post by Mr Grumpy? His first post. A 'real deal' review would be appreciated for sure and certain. Each of us have a profile that should contain some creditable info. Must be easy to get on RV.NET and post. Let's keep these threads with real deal folks. No plants please. This will give us a nice website to visit for great independent user reviews and we will all have a Happy New Year. Sorry Old & Slow, I was just posting a link to the actual scans for the Costco Coupon book that came out last week as per DudleyDone's post. I figured some people might like this information, perhaps canadiankid since he referenced that he hadn't seen them. Yes, that was my first post because up until now, I haven't had anything to contribute. I thought that this was a thread for information and I thought I helped provide that. I've been following the thread now for a couple months, waiting for users to report their feedback. I plan on picking one up in March and perhaps I can give some feedback at that time. My technical knowledge on generators is rather limited, which is why I'm here. I'm hoping that it will run my A/C unit that has a hard start cap. I have been able to run my A/C with my friends Honda 2000. This was late last September at 1200 ft. It wasn't hot that day but it's the only time I had everything in the same spot for testing. We ran it for about 30 minutes without any issues. I know that this was less than ideal test conditions. From Professor95 comments, it sounds like the Champion 2000 won't sustain a surge for as long as a Honda, so I might be screwed. I had a Champion 3500/4000 before, while it ran everything, I didn't like moving it! So I sold it and have been waiting for Costco to get some in stock and for more information on the Champion 2000 from actual users. Now that I see they will be on sale in March, I'll wait until then and keep watching this thread.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator ThreadSee this forum for the Costco.ca info.
