Regular home routers don't usually have this function because you're unlikely to "drive" your house to where there's a WiFi to connect to! There are a number of companies that offer routers with WiFi as WAN capability. You can read about this topic on the Mobile Internet Resource Center website. MIRC is run by good people who aren't affiliated with a specific manufacturer so you get good unbiased information. Some portion of the site is free; some requires a subscription. All three carriers are now using DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing) to insert a form of 5G onto their existing 4G networks. This saves enormous costs (for them) and speeds up the process of being able to claim that they have 5G nearly everywhere. However, the drawback to using frequencies in the 600-800MHz band for 5G is that the result is a sort of "5G Lite" with speeds that are somewhat better than what most of us get with 4G but not blazingly fast! "Real 5G" requires millimeter wave technology which might never be seen anywhere outside major urban centers. Over time there will be a build-out of mid-band 5G in the 2.5GHz region which will produce an "in between" form of 5G.Re: Splendide 7100xc Module Board? Birdie4961 wrote: I have contacted Westland Sales. Its not the module board (thankfully). Instead it is the fan motor. Easy fix! I honestly love when the clothes come out a little damp, when the dryer was working!! A little shake and fluff, the clothes indeed were dry! We've had an unvented Splendide for ~10 years and last year replaced our old one when the bearings went bad. The new one dries better than the old one did. If the clothes aren't quite dry enough when the dry cycle ends, just start them again for another half hour or so. They will be totally dry by then. We can easily wash and dry a whole load of towels or a queen-size sheet set. IMHO many of the folks who complain about the unvented Splendide don't pay attention to the instructions which state that the unit can wash ~15 lbs of clothes but can only dry ~11 lbs effectively. If you overload it, things will take forever to dry. We usually take a few things out to "line dry" which reduces the load so the dryer works well.Re: Winegard Acquires WiFiRanger way2roll wrote: Bill.Satellite wrote: WiFi Ranger has nothing to do with the WeBoost product. WeBoost is Wilson Electronics. I think you missed the point, Wifi ranger is owned by King. They are marketing and selling a weebost product in direct competition with their new merger. There is no relationship between King and either Winegard or WiFiRanger. WiFiRanger is most definitely not owned by King and no WeBoost products are marketed by WiFiRanger.Winegard Acquires WiFiRangerAn exciting event in the RV world was announced this morning. Two world-class companies in electronics are now one! Winegard Company of Iowa has acquired WiFiRanger of Idaho. Both companies will continue to provide superior products and services to their customers and the synergy between their talents provides the promise of even more exciting products in the future. For the time being there will be no change in either company's products or operations. Both product lines will continue to be sold and serviced. But now the Converge and Connect product lines are family! Here's the official announcement: Winegard acquires WiFiRangerRe: Look for Data Plan that throttles to greater than 3G Tom_M wrote: Here's a link to a lengthy thread on the iRV2 forum from member gsgriffin concerning Visible: Visible setup thread Message #10 has a link to a document for setting up the phone and router. The author recommends a GL.iNet GL-AR750S router but I use a much cheaper model the GL.iNet GL-AR150. The setup is the same for either. You can use any router that can USB-tether a phone or you can connect the phone via WiFi if you have a router with WiFi as WAN capability. Joel (AKA docj)Re: Side emitting LED bulb? I've also used it to see some BBC shows while in the US.Re: Netflix: disappearing moviesAll of the streaming services have to pay license fees for the content (intellectual property) they provide. I suspect that if a particular movie or TV show isn't getting watched all that often, it may get cancelled the next time it's license is up for renewal. IMHO it has nothing to do with consideration for customers; it's simply a business decision. Often when Netflix discontinues a show you may be able to find it on a competing service. My Roku can search by name for other places to find a show, or just to a Google search.Re: Windows 10 1709 update messed up my laptop olympicman wrote: Installed the latest Windows 10 1709 update to my formally rock solid laptop. Now when I try to restart the computer it comes back up with a blank screen. The only way I can get it back usable is to do a hard restart and that does not always work. Even when I just close the lid the screen will not come up without a hard restart. I have the settings set to when lose lid nothing happens, never sleep. Any ideas? The 1709 update was a problem for both my laptops and several others I have used recently. Once you your computer running take a look at Settings/Update/UpdateHistory. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it shows that a "Restart is needed to complete update" but restarting it won't fix the problem. This was the case with several computers I've worked on. Under updates you can try to see if you are given the option to remove that update; you probably won't be allowed to or even if you are it won't actually do it even though it may act as if it does. What worked best for me was to go to the Windows update site and to manually download and install 1709. Follow this link: Windows 10 Fall Creator Edition and click on Update Now. This will result in the update being installed and I've had much better luck with the success rate. But be forewarned that this will use another 4-5GB of data. There are other things that can be done if the problem isn't licked by this approach, but this worked for most of the computers I used it on.
