I am sure as we dive deeper into planning I will have more questions.Re: Reservations in or around Denver, COhtss, I think these fairgrounds are now closed unless this is a different fairgrounds. Would love to hear more about it if it is open. As we plan we will try to use the Elks lodges. It is "iffy" but with some luck it will work out for us. Thanks again for all of your input. StuartRe: Boulder, CO to Salt Lake City, UTThanks everyone, great advice. We have been to Grand Junction, Black Canyon (hiked down to the river) and Moab so no need to head there now. We seem to like the suggestions from Busskipper the best. I think the route along 70 staying at Leadville and touring around that area seams to be most to our liking. We love to hike and bicycle ride and I think we can spend endless amounts of time hiking. We also love to tour the small mountain towns. I think we will then head up to Dinosaur NM then off to SLC. I think with our 600 hp engine we should have no problem crossing the pass along 70 heading out of Denver. We recently drove from Grand Junction through Ouray then south on the Million Dollar hwy to Durango. What a blast but want to see some new areas of CO now. With this plan we will omit Fort Collins from our itinerary.Boulder, CO to Salt Lake City, UTHi all, This summer we are heading from Boulder to Salt Lake. We have lots of time to get there so picking the quickest route is not important. What is more important is to drive the most scenic and interesting route with the most interesting potential stops. There are tree choices that seem logical: 1. Route 14 to 40. 2. Go north to 80, then west 3. Go south to 70, then west For those who have personal experience what route would you recommend for being the most interesting? Thanks in advance, StuartRe: Reservations in or around Denver, COThanks everyone, It is surprising how few good choices there are. We are Elks members and we may go that route. They do not take reservations so that makes it a little uncertain. StuartReservations in or around Denver, COHello everyone, We are looking to visit the Denver, CO around the end of May, after the Memorial Day holiday. We would like to stay near Denver, within about 30 miles. We are having difficulty finding a place that is not already booked. I would love to hear any recommendations for an rv park for a 45 foot motorhome. We would like full hook ups but are willing to deal with anything, even dry camping. Have you found making reservations has become so difficult? Thank you in advance for any input, Stuart & LeslieRe: Santa Fe to Taos to Great Sand Dunes NPThanks everyone. Great advice on the route and great suggestions for things to do and places to stay. StuartSanta Fe to Taos to Great Sand Dunes NPWe are planning a trip from Santa Fe, NM to Taos, NM then to Great Sand Dune National Park in Colorado. What route would you recommend and are there any issues with our 45-foot motorhome towing our toad. We are very experienced driving mountain and curvy roads. Thank you for your input.Re: More questions about the Canadian RockiesPaul, Thank you, great info. StuartRe: More questions about the Canadian RockiesThanks
