If I run in the store for a few, I'll just crank the air, shut the truck off, then as soon as I get out and lock it - remote start it and let the mutts sit in the A/C. :) That's a great idea.Re: How do you keep pets cool?I completely understand not leaving a dog in a hot trailer and that's why I put out this post. I will be traveling solo and will have to go into a grocery store at some point so I am looking for a solution so he can stay cool. How do you keep pets cool?I am looking to be a full time RV'er by this fall and will be traveling with my Schipperke (small, black, furry dog). I'm curious how other people deal with preventing over heating in their pets if they need to leave them in the unit for several hours if there is no power available. I've looked at cooling pads, fans etc but I haven't found what looks like a good solution without running a generator and cooling the whole RV. I would like to hear any suggestions from fellow pet owners.Re: Where do I start? Thanks for the input everyone. I do have so much research to do and I would like to find classes for beginners. I definitely operate on the right side of my brain better than the left. Good thought on something to drive when I get there. . . more food for thought. Keep it coming, I'm listening. Will look into "Women on Wheels" or "Loners on Wheels".Where do I start?Ok, I'm finally in a position in life (early 60's)to take to the open road as a single woman. I am new to all of this because my ex-husband had no interest in the RV lifestyle so I feel I'm starting from scratch so any suggested books and resources would be appreciated. After my initial research I think a "B" class would be a good place to start. I will be traveling with a small dog and I'm an artist photographer in the western U.S. I do like some creature comforts but efficiency and economy are very important to me. I did spend 6 months living in a VW bus in Mexico and Central America with a boyfriend in the mid 70's.
