All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Not liking this new format very much I'll probably have to check out IRV2 again -- it's been decades since I was there. Since the 20 years of posts from RV.Net seem to be impossible to locate, it's no great loss leaving here because the loss already happened. Re: Much Bellyaching. If this is an upgrade, they failed. I manage other web forums, and was able to upgrade without losing all the functionality or content of my 20+ year old site. This is garbage. Unusable. Not liking this new format very much Three of the forums I used to frequent seem to have evaporated.... Route planning Towing Boondocking I can't see all posts in a deep thread... or pagination.... Fairly useless interface when a thread was pages and pages deep (e.g. the Generator threads written by the Professor) Now that we're looking for a Toyhauler, I see that the Toy Hauler forum is gone too? So is the Tow Vehicle forum? If I wanted a Facebook-like experience, I'd use.... Facebook. We used forums for a reason. Not sure I'm going to be back here as often as I was on the old structure. Re: LA Transit AlternativesI would go 58->395 to bypass the worst of it. I'd also plan to only be driving around in the LA area between 0200 and 0400...Re: 89A Flagstaff to Sedona...I remember taking 89A with a truck + fifth wheel combination... we were over 50' and it was a bit snug in some of the corners. 40' rules out most buses... and it's a fairly long detour without a good place to turn around.Re: Illinois I-55 or I-57If you're ultimately planning to cut across US-24 and up to Kalamazoo... I change my answer. Take I-70 to US-231 and stay as far away from Chicago as you can.Re: Illinois I-55 or I-57I-55. Hands down... Depending on where you're coming from, I-255 is what I've found is the the easiest/flattest way around traffic and downtown if coming on either I-55 or I-44. I'm not nearly as wild about I-270 because of construction over the last couple years.Re: Teton PassYou won't even notice the pass with that.Re: Route into Yosemite ValleyWell.... two people have already answered take the detour vs. the climb and another said it's a wash. One thing I've learned in 20 years here is never volunteer too much information when asking for advice. Saying things like "I really smoked my brakes in the mountains" is guaranteed to open yourself up to unsolicited advice. If you really want to have fun and see reactions, admit that you tow a 39' fifth wheel with a half-ton over in the Towing forums... ;)Re: Iowa to Mesa,AZ- I40 or the "southern route" with 5th wheelI-20 -> I-10 is a flatter boring drive that I've done many times, I've also been stuck in the snow between Van Horn and Sierra Blanca in early December... Don't assume you'll never see it.
