We also have a Dodge RT 190 P with the 318 . Right now we are on a trip from our home province of NB to BC or Alberta . Because of our van being underpowered we decided to turn around ( this time ) at Lake Louise . Locals described the mountains and passes and i am pretty sure our RT would not make it up theses steep mountains . Just going up from a dead stop to Lake Louise we had to crawl up very slow and that wasn't that bad of a hill . On a positive note this 318 gives us avg 19 mpg and so far on this trip we drove 7000 km and still no need to add oil ( Mobil 1 ) My uncle has the same van just 6 years older and he has over 400,000 km on his van . I also got my van checked by the local Dodge dealer before leaving and they said van was in terrific shape . We still wish we could make it to BC and will look into other routes for next time in a few years . Had fun on this trip . What are the usual fees to dump your rv tank and refill . We just paid $ 20 in Brandon Manitoba at Meadowlark Campground . . WE highly recommend " Le Madelon " . It's a deli/bakery in Cap aux Meules on the street across from Tim Hortons . They have all sorts of seafood and other meals prepared fresh you can take out or sit down and eat on there terrace . Delicious seafood Lasaga, seafood pie fish cakes etc . Le Cafe de la Grave is also a very good restaurant with a varied menu . This is on site ' La Grave " a historical site depicting life on Magdalen islands as a fisherman years ago ( not today lol ) .. Update : We received the mattress yesterday and slept on it last night and slept good and comfortable . It's a Obusform short queen mattress and went in the van no problem ( with a little coaxing ) It's 59 inches wide so since the space for the bed is 72 in wide we will use the extra 13 in for storage . So a Latex foam mattress is NOT a memory foam mattress at all ! It's a different product all together if i understand ok . Glad you can get some good night sleep in your RT and it sounds like a good solution . We put all trips on hold until we get this mattress in 3 weeks or less . I also don't agree with the opinion that Dodge engines are bad . We own a 2003 190P but it only has 65k miles . The reason i chose Dodge engine 318 is my uncle has a RT 170V 1996 and he has 200,000 miles on his Dodge 318 . The only thing engine related he has had to get done was a water pump replacement about 2 years ago . Other than that just regular maintenance . Concerning memory foam mattress i was just a little concerned that after awhile my body groove would stay on the mattress making it uncomfortable . i weight 225 lbs . i tried them out in the store and they seem a little soft for my personal taste . 5 inch height would have been better but at times on our RT bed we had the original seat cushions + 3 inch foam topper . @ senf . Thats what we had talked about doing 2 ratcheting tie down strap to roll it like a hot dog a bit to fit it into the door . The salmons said doing this for a few minutes would not damage the coils inside the mattress . We ordered Queen size that will leave 14 inches on one side that we will use for extra small storage ( bins ) to keep the mattress in place . send how do you like your foam mattress ? lol The door opening is approx 51 inch and the mattress is 58 inch . So there will be some squuezing involved . The fellow at the mattress store told me he would help . We will gain a few inches by holding it sideways . We are so looking forward to a real mattress in the RT . We have owned this 2003 190P road trek for 4 years now . I am sick and tired of not sleeping well so we just ordered a coil mattress ( Queen short ) . We will only get it in 3 weeks and hopefully we can fit it in the door of the van and start sleeping better .4.1KViews0likes12Comments
