Preheat is only 2 or 3 minutes. We store it in the conventional oven when travelling.Re: Home Security - what we didIf you are heading out the door and haven't made prior arrangements for any type of security, try the cell phone app "Salient Eye".., I use it; its not perfect, but better than nothing at all. It uses an old cell phone on wifi (no simm card req'd) as a camera. When its camera detects motion, it immediately sends an alert to your mobile, either by SMS or email, along with real time images of the action. Its a free app, and I am impressed with the way it performs.Re: How many of you do this? Its called Risk Management. I personally don't want to be liable if my fridge causes an explosion or fire. Statistically its not if it has or hasn't happened; its when it will ultimately happen. Really, what's the harm in taking a few seconds to turn it off? And maybe preventing a catastrophie. Have you ever seen a person burned by gasoline? Not something you want to witness, or be responsible for.Re: Generator conversionOP here: I'm really just getting tired of having the carb gummed up after each winter storage, despite periodic start-ups, from having to use ethanol-laced gasoline. These carbs are clearly not ethanol compatible. And yes, I do use a fuel stabilizer. I thought maybe propane would alleviate that problem. It would be nice to have dual fuel just as a backup, but it sounds like that's really problematic.Generator conversionWondering if it is feasible to convert an onboard Onan 4kw gas powered generator to run on propane, or even better dual fuel (gas and propane)? Anyone done this? Your thoughts and comments appreciated.Re: Oil change interval, why is there a time limit? T18skyguy wrote: This is what I've read on the longevity of oil in the pan by date. The oil slowly combines with oxygen, and results in oxidation, which leads to sludge/coke or whatever other bad things. The filter media can also be attacked and ruined by the acids in oil while it sits in the filter. Then there is also the steady addition of water to the oil. This happens even when the engine is not running. The air in the engine is the same as outside, so when it hits the dew point, it condenses inside the engine, makes rust if it can, then settles into the pan. That water burns off if you run it, but not if it's parked for long periods. At night the engine inhales when the air gets cool(contraction), and when the day warms up it exhales(expansion), kinda like we do. I do the Mobil 1 annual oil once a year. Right answer, finally! The moisture and acids that build up in the oil will slowly corrode the internal components of the engine. Its not that the oil breaks down, it doesn't; its the impurities that build up in oil that has some miles on it.Re: High pitched sound/alarm?Mouse caught in a trap?Re: Diesel Pusher BluesYou're scaring me... was thinking I might "upgrade" from my gasser to a DP. Hmmm Certainly get a second opinion; hope this ends well for you.Re: house system excessive draw?|Did the step retract/extend when you connected the battery? Maybe the step light is on and drawing current? Just a thought....Re: Weak Campground wi-fi signal Ivylog wrote: I add a Yagi antenna to the Alfa for even better distance. Used to be able to buy both for $36 on Ebay. I mounted one of these yagi antenna on my batwing antenna mast. That allows me to rotate it from inside the rig, sometimes able to find several wifi connections other than the campground. Its connected to aa Alfa booster.
