Due to unforeseen circumstances, we're having to postpone this trip until next summer. But I saved all of your suggestions in my planning notes for next year.Ideas for Vancouver, Whistler & WashingtonHi Everyone, I'm looking for ideas for this summer... I'm taking the kids to Whistler (North of Vancouver, BC) and I'm wondering what else we should do along the way. A couple years ago we did Seattle, the Olympic Peninsula, Anacortes, etc... so I'm thinking more about areas East of I-5. We also did Mt. St. Helens, the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, and McMinnville at the same time, so I'm thinking about the Northern areas, above Seattle. We're not afraid of mountain grades, or getting off the beaten path. Any suggestions for that Northern Washington area? Any must-see areas or must-do activities around Vancouver while we're there? Thanks!Re: Trip Report: The Perfect Family Trip, Northwest 2016Glacier really is a special place - I'm really glad you made it that far from home! All of your pictures are great, but these two were my favorites from Glacier: Now hurry up and post about the Badlands! :BRe: Summer 2017 Trip Planning (Utah, Wyoming, Montana, S Dakota)Thanks Bill, and thanks TyroneandGladys. I will play with all of these suggestions on the map and see what I come up with.Re: Utah Vacation MWJones wrote: HAMNET, Don't miss Dead Horse State Park and Canyonlands NP. - not far from Moab on HWY 313. Dead Horse SP has a nice Campground. We saw the most BUTIFULL sunset we have ever seen anywhere at Dead Horse SP.!!!! The view from Dead Horse Point Lookout is fantastic!!! I have to second this. We've done all the NP's in Utah, and they're all amazing. But Canyonlands NP and Dead Horse Point SP are 2 of our favorites!Re: Trip Report: The Perfect Family Trip, Northwest 2016tragusa3 - great report so far! Looking forward to the rest, and we're planning to hit Black Hills & Badlands next summer (2017).Re: Summer 2017 Trip Planning (Utah, Wyoming, Montana, S Dakota)I'm reviving this thread, as I'm finally back to planning our 2017 summer trip. As it stands, I'm currently struggling with the 2nd-half of the loop - whether to head South-west from Devil's Tower through Wyoming, or straight South toward Denver, then West through Colorado: From what I've read over the last few months, I'm not jazzed about the areas I'm finding around Flaming Gorge & Dinosaur, and wondering if I'd be happier heading back toward Colorado and hitting some of our favorites instead. But I could be convinced either way - that's why I'm here looking for ideas and opinions.Re: Summer 2015 Trip Report - Arizona, Colorado & Utah welove2drive wrote: Thanks for sharing. Love the pictures. Marcia Thanks! I haven't been on this site in a few months, so it was a pleasant surprise to see this thread revived! Work has been consuming every waking moment for the last few months, and any time that hasn't gone toward work has been consumed by family, kids, school, neighborhood, etc... But now we're looking ahead and starting to plan our Summer-2017 trip, and the thought of getting back out on the open road is bringing me an amazing sense of calm and happiness! It's kinda my Zen...Re: Yosomite Tuolumne campground to Zion NP TNRIVERSIDE wrote: OP here. Thanks for the advice. We will be traveling this in late June. And we are not pressed for time. So would I be stupid to go through Death Valley in late June? If I'm going from Tuolumne to Las Vagas. it could be a great time to mark off another NP. Just driving through. It looks like I could go 395 to 136 / 190. All comments appreciated. Death Valley is going to be ridiculously hot in late June - often 110+ and sometimes 115+. And the grade from 395 into Death Valley on 190 is a 9% grade - hot engine on the climb, and hot brakes on the descent. I've done it, and I would be very hesitant when it's that hot.Re: Keeping cool in 95 degree heat... rdmike wrote: We watch the inside temp on the thermostat. Once over 90 measured from various parts of the coach or so we turn on the gen and the air. Over 90 inside? Is that a typo? We run ours if it gets above 74...
