They do not usually spend much time there but if there for an extended period, I take them out onto the highway for a few miles at least once a month. ( Possible in West Texas ) The Granite units are not the cheapest, but I have found them to be very reliable and are used by a lot of car and truck collectors that I know. http://www.granitedigital.com/saveabattery.aspxBest Route in CaliforniaWe travel with a 36 foot fifth wheel towed with a Freightliner Sport Chassis, total length around 51 feet. Next spring we are planning on visiting California and will be coming across on I40 from Texas. We are planning on a late April early May arrival at Yosemite. From Yosemite we will be heading to Carmichael, outside of Sacramento. From the Sacramento area we will be headed North to Oregon and Washington. My questions concern the best routes to take: Best route to Yosemite ( Midpines ) from I40? Is it feasible to go over to US 101 from Williams and take it up the coast to Oregon, or will we need to take I5? We have never travelled in California with the RV so we are just trying to do our research to avoid unpleasant surprises. Thank you for any assistance. Travel Safe!Towing with a Freightliner SportchassisWe have sold our Dodge 3500 and purchased a Freightliner M2 106 SC. The bed on the truck is set up for a goose neck and is going to need some modification for our 5th wheel. My question is...... Do I need an air hitch such as the Trailer Saver TS3?? or Would the Fifth Airborne air pin box do the same thing? The pin box change would be about $2k cheaper.... but would require lowering our hitch at least 6 inches. The TS3 would require lowering the hitch mounting but only about 2 inches. Of course my concern is the extra stress this truck would be putting on the trailer.... I have heard and read both schools on this and would like some input....Especially from someone that may have tried both ways.
