Bouy 10 (Columbia River) out of Astoria or Warrenton was something I fished this year mid August, the boat fished the Ocean instead of the river but everyone on the boat limited out. Most all of the bays offer some sort of salmon fishing starting in August thru Oct. Although salmon are in the rivers until thanksgiving. You may want to consider Steelhead fishing also....the Deshutes River feeds into the Columbia near The Dalles is excellent in Sept. ifish.net is a good resource for information.Re: Humming from Progressive Industires EMS 50 amp systemThanks for the replies. Good to know it isn't going to blow up the 5th wheel. The hum is something that bothers my wife a lot more than me but it can be loud at times. I will call PI sometime early next week as the unit is only about 6 months old and see what they suggest. I like and will try the mouse pad idea this weekend to see what impact that has. Great to have all you for resource folks. Get out and enjoy those units. Weather here in Oregon is darn near perfect!! Thanks again for your help.Humming from Progressive Industires EMS 50 amp systemAbout 6 months ago I had Camping World install a Progressive Industries EMS 50amp system to our Montana Big Sky. During the last 2 weekend trips we have noticed a loud "hum" from the EMS unit. At first I thought it was the converter.....replaced it twice (Progressive Dynamics warranty)but alas problem not resolved as I was replacing wrong unit. What would cause the "hum"? I have placed my hand on the unit and there is a slight vibration....which I am sure is causing the hum. Any ideas? I have not contacted Progressive Industries yet...will do that next week. Thought I'd ask the experts for your opinions!!Re: Cape Kiwanda RV Resort, OregonI just spent Friday, and Saturday night at the Thousand Trails Pacific City location. Which is about 2 miles further north on the main road. Pacific City is a very small town. DW loves to go into the small shops. She loved an art gallery....and of course the "Dapper Frog" which has lots of really nice (expensive too) things. I think she could spend 90 minutes just in the Dapper Frog. One of her favorite shops recently closed up shop. so if you see something you like better buy it. Might not be there next time you are in town. Fishing should be good----if you enjoy that.....should be able to dig clams in one of the bays on low tide. Sand Lake is (maybe 10 miles north) known for ATV activities. South on 101 is Lincoln City with a casino, and tons of shops including an outlet mall. This on top of all the things already mentioned....the Brewery just across the street from your RV Resort is close....and watch the Dories launch. Enjoy your stay!Re: Roto- Chock and 6 point leveling???I had Roto-Chok with my previous Jayco.....loved them. Now I have a Big Sky.....love the 6 point level up system. However, the Roto-Choks caused continue problems....I found putting them on prior to leveling the rig(putting them on when I had just disconnected from the tow rig) caused an issue when taking them off after re-hooking up. Most of the time they would shift between the wheels when I lowered the trailer (the wheels adjusted the distance between themselves)and the rotochoks would jam between the wheels and be extremely difficult to remove. I have a set....but don't use them. They are a wonderful product, but not with the 6 point level up system.Re: Cape Lookout to Fort Yamhill, Grand Ronde, OregonToday I drove my Dodge and my 38' Montana from Pacific City onto Hwy 101 and then onto Hwy 140 to Grand Rhonde. This road is smaller and has a few bridges that are one lane only. I have traveled many times with my drift boat on the Hwy off Hwy 101 between Hebo and Grand Rhonde(I think it is Hwy 240). This road is a slow grade to about 900 ft....with a travel time between Hebo and Grand Rhonde of about 30 minutes. Traveling with a 30' trailer should not be an issue. Many log trucks use this same road from Hebo to Grand Rhonde.Re: 2008 Jayco Designer 35RLSA... Thoughts?Sorry----I didn't elaborate. I meant going "DOWN" hill. Due to weight had to go easy down hill. More than once brakes heated up. I wasn't bashful about the kinds of downhill grades I took it on. AS to going up hill....unit had no issues being pulled by the Dodge 3500 dually. Again, towed like a dream and had little to no chucking. I'd have to say it towed much better than my Montana today.Re: 2008 Jayco Designer 35RLSA... Thoughts? We had that exact unit. Owned it since new--and it was well used. Loved the following....side isle bathroom, Quality of things meant nothing really fell apart, Mor-Ryde Hitch(towed like a dream), Convection Microwave(1/2 time oven), the day-night shades really did darken the room. Loved that large rear window. Big TV, and surround sound. WE towed our unit on multiple trips....Glacier, Yellowstone, Zion, Tetons, Bryce, Grand Canyon, Redwood, Crater Lake, Lassen...I think you get the idea...lots of places. It towed like a dream...but it has some weight...so on some grades we had to take it real easy. Things we did not like.... The vent over the stove---does not vent to the outside--unless a modification has been made--even though there is a exterior vent...had issues with the rear electric jacks(broken shear pin & bad resetting circuit breaker), A/C units rear unit leaked water from not being properly tightened the front unit had a problem with leaking water after running for about 90 minutes. Our decal on the front did crack and have to be replaced. We had an issue with one of the slides---a bolt broke and had to be replaced--not huge but had to tear into the underbelly. Only a handful of times did we find the SIZE of this unit to be an issue. Don't hear that I hated this unit...cuz we did not. Replaced it spring of this year....as we needed something different for our next stage of travel. Your price of mid 30's sounds about right....maybe a tad high but not too out of line. Hope this helps.Re: Olympic National Park---Washington State Sept 2013Appreciate thoughts and feedback. Wife will love the added spots to hike. I appreciate the knowledge of places to park the trailer. If you only drive thru an area on a paved road---you miss so much. Will plan on a days drive to Port Angeles/Sequim area....spend a 3 nights go to Victoria BC, Hurricane Ridge then over to La Push for a few days of the coast....will have a couple days to work down the coast toward Oregon and then sadly back to Portland.Olympic National Park---Washington State Sept 2013Leaving on a 7 day trip mid sept around the Olympic National Park. With maybe a one day trip onto Vancouver Island without the trailer. Wife loves to hike and special places....especially the out of the way places she can go. Any suggestions on places to hike, see, stay or avoid on this loop around the National Park. We are pulling a 38 foot 5th wheel so we are a tad long for the national park campgrounds. any suggestions are appreciated. Dry camping is ok for a couple days...but we will need to dump at some point!!
