A switch can be used to do the same thing.Re: Goodyear Tire Deaths for RVsI went to CapriRacer's website and I highly recommend others do the same. He has volumes of information there, based on many years experience in the industry. With so much at stake, damage to the vehicle, injury and even possible death, it is important to know the facts.Re: Capitol gains tax?The best advice is to see a tax adviser. Having said that, an RV qualifies as a home if it meets the criteria as stated by monkey44. Also, buying another home, S&B or RV, can only be deducted from the profit of the one you sold for tax purposes if it's cost exceeds the sale price of your previous one. Assuming the one you sold was more than the RV you're buying, there is no credit. The $250,000 single/$500,000 joint applies. Again, see a tax adviser for the latest and correct info.Re: Rv or condo for snowbirds? If you are going to look at some class A's in the Tampa area, go to General RV just east on I4. Ask for Ron Hendrickson. We have one on the way, purchased there when we were down in Jan to sell our Park Model in Zephyrhills. It's being delivered to their Huntley Il store from the plant, as that's 400 miles for us vs 1600. I'm not at all impressed with Lazy Days anymore.Re: Fan-Tastic Power Vent QuestionSome Fantastic fans are wired to a wall control with temp settings, maybe not a thermostat per say but temp controlled non the less. we had an 04 Jayco Designer TT that had two of them. The owners manuals that came with showed them as factory installed units. Do a search for them and you can maybe find a manual online.Re: Tow Dolly Vs. 4WDThe OP stated he has a Diesel. Assuming a DP, yeah I know about assuming, it should have at least 7500# and probably 10,000# towing capacity. A friend at the park we stay at in Florida had a cycle carrier mounting bracket installed on the back of his Winnebago Vectra for his Harley and tows a car behind that. He says it works great. One would have to verify hitch and towing capacity regardless.Re: City water or On-board tank? This comment is not meant to be smart, simply an honest question. When you leave your S&B to go to the store, the movie or?, do you shut off your water main? Except for the RVs with the gray polybutylene plumbing, they use the same plumbing as a S&B. Some are CPVC and most, if not all, newer ones are PEX. To be fair, movement from driving down the road can obviously play a part. That will have minimal effect on PEX tho. After 30 years, the ones that concerned me the most were the gray stuff, it is not good and had some recalls to be replaced. Next would be CPVC as it gets brittle with age so movement from traveling could cause an issue. PEX is a very durable product. It is tough, flexible and allows for the elimination of a lot of the fittings needed with hard piping such as copper or CPVC.Re: Tricky question about Atwood Water HeaterI've had a problem with the thermostat a couple times. It just sits against the tank and got dirty between it and the tank. Took it out, cleaned it and put it back and worked just fine. simple to check.
