How dare you??? Re: RV parks North across bridge from Mackinaw CityThere's a KOA on the south side. If you're into resort type parks, there's this.Re: Is Socializing a Dying Thing in the RV Community? Also, there are areas of the country that are more publicly social than others. I've had more conversations with strangers in the southeast than the northeast. The northeast with it's small lot sizes and high population density makes people territorial, and a impromptu conversation is more often than not greeted with "what does he want". This lack of space bubbles into all aspects of life, from the aggressive driving habits of people there to the amount of space you must leave between you and another person in line at the grocery store. And whatever you do, don't call anyone 'hun'! We find that most campers are still somewhat social if they're outside. If it's hot and the A/C is running, you just see fewer people outside. Hotter weather is hotter than it used to be.Re: Failed Smog TeasDoesn't CA have an age after which you don't need emissions? If it's 25 years, you're already there.Re: Route recommendationThat's about 5500 miles round trip using I-80 (iffy in May weather wise). You'll average about 50 miles an hour so an 8 hour day (that's a loooonnnngggg day) gets you 400 miles down the road. That's 2 weeks on the road, stopping only for overnights and not seeing anything along the way. I would think a month is not enough time. Six weeks not much better. Route wise, I'd do the southern route (CA99/CA58 or US395 to Barstow to pick up I-40) on the way east and I-80 west. The snow in the mountain passes in WY should be gone by time you head for home. This would be a grind for me. I'd just fly. Flying would probably be cheaper too unless you're a big family.Re: Tire pressure Executive wrote: Given your weights, I'd probably run 85# all around....D +5 for gauge error.Re: Survey for online reservation vs old school phone and email#1 - yes #2 - no. The only way I would pay a site lock if it included the ability to refuse the secondary site with a full refund. #3 - no. I google earth the campground and read online reviews looking for preferred sites. I don't select just any old site. #4 maybe. If I really want to be at a CG, I will call and see if there are are cancellations etc. If online says you're full, I'll go onto my next choice. #5 yes. Groups are a special case and screwing it up can cost you future revenue.Re: Typical problem we all see in RV parks.Another first world problem thread. Some people need to walk a mile.
