Nanoose Bay can be a bit milder still, but I don't think there's much in the way of RV parks there.Re: Chevy 350 V8 Big Enough engine? I can't think of anything (reasonably affordable) I'd rather take a long road trip in than a conversion van. It would be like a first class flight on wheels!Re: breakaway switch and cable Cinderelle wrote: ...I read that with the wheels turning, pull the switch out and the brakes should lock. That makes me a bit nervous, is it safe to do this if I am towing the TT VERY slowly, to have someone pull the pin out? Or should I take it to a garage and have it put a lift for testing? I can't think of a safe way to accomplish that during a pre-trip inspection. I know the commercial vehicle officers in our area test commercially plated trailers with electric brakes by pulling the pin with the TV in park, then confirming the activated trailer brakes will hold back the truck/trailer combo at idle, once the TV is put in drive. That's the test I use during my pre-trip. That's in addition to any tests prescribed by the manufacturer of your trailer brake controller. (edited for clarification)Re: What kind of animal is most likely to kill you? 3oaks wrote: Interesting, but don't worry about the animals. You are more likely to be seriously injured or killed while traveling on the road in a vehicle. Animals are precisely what I worry the most about when I'm on the road. Moose and Elk are very hard to see at night, and will do a number on a vehicle moving at highway speed.Re: Coffee!Bialetti Moka Pot, just like at home.Re: Plan to see Ice Fields Pkwy July 6-12, Whats it like Now.?As others have said, anything inside the park is going to be very busy/full. I would recommend staying in or near Hinton, or you could consider going West of Jasper toward Valemount, or even as far as Blue River/Clearwater. Regardless of where you stay, I can't recommend reservations enough. Now that the kids are out of school for the summer (as of yesterday/day before) there are a LOT of RVs on the road.Re: Battery (DC) to Shore Power WiringI would politely suggest that you double check what your interior lights run on. I would be surprised if they were 110V AC. The normal configuration is 110V AC shore power ===> Converter ===> 12V DC to everything the trailer is equipped with (lights and appliances). Have you tested the lights or checked stickers inside the fixtures to confirm they are 110V AC?Re: Is DEF readily available... missnmountains wrote: DEF is not available at the pumps in Canada nor Alaska with one exception we found in Edmonton. You will need to purchase the jugs at Walmart or places like Tire Kingdom (Dawson Creek). Ken UFA in Alberta carries it at the pump. This may vary by location.Re: Which Generator?Unless you have a plan to install the Hondas in the generator compartment of your unit, I assume you will be running them outside of your trailer. If they are outside, they are more prone to theft and exposure to the elements.Re: Musical RV'sI've never encountered anything as extreme as what you are experiencing. However, I have seen people bumped from more desirable spots to the back forty in some circumstances. For example, if the campground has a camper who on an annual basis reserves a beachfront spot for a specific date range, you may be able to occupy that spot before they get there, then get moved out. With that said, there is no logical explanation for being moved 14 times.
