All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Is a stabilizer jack for fifth wheel hitch worth the money?I installed JT stabilizer system on my 35ft rig. ALL the difference in the world for stability. virtually no shake at all when parked. I had to have a crossbar welded for the rear struts so they didn't interfere with the pullout rack. Used 1/4 inch angle hard steel.Re: JT Strong Arm Stab. vs. 2 Addit. Front 30” Scissor JacksI put the system on mine and its VERY stable. I come in around 285 and it stops almost all movement in the rig. The only mounting problem I had was the rear attachment point on the frame. There wasn't one on my rig because of the pull-out bike mount. I welded a piece of 1 inch angle iron from side-to-side inside the frame and under the pull-out rack. I used 3/8 for overall strength. Once in place, it was simply a matter of drilling the holes and mounting the bracket. BTW-- The "tec Support" at Lippert was worthless -- PERIOD. Remember to paint with anti-rust for a lasting job.Re: 30 amp for duel ACAnyone ever install a separate circuit on a remote breaker box for a 110 service? This was a recommendation from a mechanic working at a well known camping center. Then the bedroom A/C would be on its own 110 circuit and plugged in to the 30 Amp for the main 5th and a sep heavy duty extention on the postRe: Curt fifth Wheel HitchesI have a Curt E16 Slider complete. Used 2 times $350. I'm located in Maryland. I have the same hitch in m 2500HDRe: 2013 Cougar 318SABMy 2010 318 has one(1) hose dump connection, A Black water valve, A FORWARD Gray water valve and the second GRAY Water valve is located outside the storage compartment under the unit, just in front of the drivers side wheelsRe: 'Correct installation of JT Strongarm StabilizersThe folks at JT aren't much help. I had to fabricate a mounting surface for the rear stabilizers. When I called JT, all they could do was send me ANOTHER copy of the installation instructions. The setup when parking your unit is very important to how well the system works. Also, the mounting to the jacks MUST be as close as possible to the bottom hole. The closer to the ground, the better angle for the stabilizer arms.Re: Camping World Service Dept. This is an interesting read as I just purchased the Good Sam towing/ road side assistance insurance package. I hope I don't need the help, but if I do I hope they respond as advertised.Re: A great reason to check everything B-4 a tripI vote for the digital thermometer as well. I keep mine in the truck and use it to check temps on EVERYTHING I tow. I have a Boat, utility and 5th wheel I comes in handy to check my outboards to be sure I have good coolant flow through both engines. Watch for them on sale at Harbor Freight. I also use it to check road surface temps when its extremely hot.Re: 5th Wheel Spec Height QuestionFind what you feel is the highest point and using a 6Ft level place it on top of that spot extend the level out over the side and measure down from the bottom of the level to the ground. Make sure the level is maintained when extending it out over the side.Re: Winterizing --- Antifreeze or blow'em out??Thanks for all the replies. I live outside Baltimore, MD about 35 miles and we get weather down in the low single numbers. I'll most likely use some of all the suggestions. Drain and Blow out the lines and use the water pump to add the antifreeze. I have the insulated under-side polar package and don't want to have to remove any of that for repairs. As for the posters in Florida -- I just might join ya.
