Given that we have always just driven from place to place, California to Alaska, all thru Mexico and then down to Panama almost always without reservations, we really don't know how to plan a trip requiring schedules. Has anybody out there on this forum blogged this trip? We would appreciate suggestions on when we should go, ie. is June too early, how far in advance we should make reservations, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Back Up CameraMy husband has been hauling a Host TC around on our Dodge dually for about ten years. Due to his health issues, I have started driving the truck. I would like to have a backup camera installed. There seems to be a vast variation in prices. Will you guys please recommend a particular model or tell us what to look in this item. Also, how difficult are they to install? Is this something that an ordinary handy sort of guy can do on his own or will we have to have some techie do it?Re: El NinoDoes anybody remember what Mexico's Pacific coast was like the winter of '97/98?Re: El NinoDepressing as it will be, maybe we should just plan to stay home this winter because being cooped up in a 1700 sq. ft. house in California is slightly more appealing than being cooped up in a truck camper in a Mexican beach town because at home, at least, there are always projects to complete and better TV programming. Your thoughts, folks?Re: El NinoGreat blog. Love your photos. Can't wait to see you guys. We'll bring the camper - guest room - homeEl NinoIs there any concern that the forecasted El Nino will hit as far south as Mexico’s Pacific coast?Re: Panama caravanYou do not need a caravan to travel to Panama. We did the trip in 2010 with another couple. With the size of their rig and newness of their truck, they were more of hindrance than help. Another poster on this forum made the trip last year. Pls feel free to pm us for any questions regarding pets etc.Re: ****Poll Results**** - Mazatlan Rv ParksWe always stay at Mar Rosa. It may be more expensive than some of the other Mazatlan RV parks but as they say in real estate parlance - location, location, location. The front rows are right on the beach. The park is within walking distance from everywhere in Mazatlan – including Twisted Mama’s where you’ll get the very best Margarita you’ve ever had and many other excellent restaurants. If you aren’t walkers, the bus stops right in front of the gate. Mar Rosa’s manager, Melano, speaks excellent English. There are no bad spaces but you do pay in relation to distance from the beach. Bathrooms are cleaned daily. Showers are average for Mexico. This is a very friendly park. Others have mentioned the awesome sunsets. My husband's health is not good but I do really hope that we can make it down this year.Re: LPG Detector ProblemThanks for the advice. My detector was made in 2005. I just replaced the detector and it is working great. Thanks again for the recommendations.
