No better but no worse. We drove it in a 30' 2000 Flair and towed a Geo Tracker. A beautiful drive and not scary at all. Like someone else said, if you are used to gravel roads, ok but if you are used to city driving, it could be intimidating.Re: How to stop dog fom chasing deer and turkeysWe use an invisible fence. I don't understand the above comment about the fence not keeping things out. It is the dog's job to keep things out!! We have coyotes, deer, elk, cattle, etc. that roam around the place. Our dogs are an Australian Cattle Dog and an Australian Shepard/cattle dog cross. Hardwired to chase. They view the deer and elk as just another type of cow and they only chase cattle when ordered to do so. Training, training and reinforcement of the training. Good luck with an older dog. I think you should check into the invisible fence. It works wonders.Re: Everything SoupMy husband's family made this, added macaroni and named it "Seldom".Re: Roll Call Alaska 2016We went for 8 weeks this year. Wonderful trip. DH wants to go back in 2016. He wants to drive the Dempster from Dawson City to Inuvit. Our Class A doesn't keep any of the dust out so I want to get a truck camper, we have the truck. We haven't had a meeting of the minds yet. I am sure we will go but in what, that is the question!!Re: Breed Discrimination?Glad to see the last couple of posts about not all dogs being friendly with other dogs. My blue heeler is one of those. We have had her in training but it didn't do a whole lot. We are just careful when outside. She likes people and absolutely loves children and has been great with our grandkids. It is just other dogs she has a problem with. I read about a yellow ribbon movement where the yellow ribbon on the leash means doesn't play well with others. I put it on her leash but I must be the only one who read that article. Even when I move away, many people chase us to let their dogs say hi. I have to ask them to stop and explain that she is onery to other dogs. Don't know what else to do.Re: RV Park Recommendations Near DenaliWe stayed at Cantwell because the nice lady owner came to the motorhome twice and let our dogs out for a relief trip while we took the bus up into the park. Her charge was reasonable and the dogs were comfortable. I know it had electric but don't remember about water and we don't hook up to tv unless it has been storming for days and we can't get outside!Re: Roll Call Alaska 2015We also are home after 8 weeks. Living in NW Washington state, we do not rack up the miles of some of you. We drove 5700 miles. A wonderful trip except for the smoke in Fairbanks and Denali. Oh, and the washboard and potholes in the construction between Tok and Whitehorse. Only damage was the door to the fridge, hinges broken, have to replace door and there is a new, loud rattle sort of in the middle of the underneath. We didn't see a single sign 2015. We are considering going back again next summer. Still want to drive the Dalton and the Dempster.Re: This and That SoupMy husband's family calls this soup "Seldom" because it seldom is the same. We both like it and it sure uses up the leftovers.Re: Poty Stops with CatsWe just returned to NW WA from AZ and Nevada. Boots, the cat, rides curled up with our oldest dog and when we leave in the a.m., he rides on the dashboard of the motorhome for half an hour or so. Not even semis on the freeway bother him!! This was his first winter of being a snowbird so when we left home back in January, he was in his cat carrier. He yowled, meowed, growled for miles and then he pooped in the carrier. We put his harness and leash on him and left him out of the carrier and life was good.Re: traveling with a infantWe took a 4 month old to Yellowstone from NW WA, gone 3 weeks in a pickup camper which had much less room than our present Class A. It was a lovely trip and Daughter did great. Got neat pictures and baby learned to screech in the camper which echoed very well. She would yell and then just grin all over herself. It was a great trip for the whole family so don't let the naysayers get you down.
